We will be staying in Brookville, Indiana when we have to take one of the kids to Miami University in Oxford later this month. Will be there for about 3 days. The Admiral and I were trying to figure out things to do in the area, not sure if we would consider taking the boat. Saw Brookville Lake which I do not know anything about or ramps, crowds, etc. Looks fairly large on the map.

Wondering if I should take the boat down and check it out or just leave the boat and explore the area.

Any advice or info?

Take the boat,

We are there every weekend. We live in Ohio, but its only about 40 minute drive for us, and we store our boat there locally.

Lake is about 8.5 miles long and about 3/4 mile wide. Last weekend there was nothing short of 500 boats on the water,

Very few no wake zones, but they are clearly marked , there are 6-7 ramps, Bonwell ramp is only about a mile outside of Brookville. Pretty good ramp, lots of parking.

Were heading to Cumberland Lake this weekend for 10 days or we would be there again.

Never been there.

Quick googling shows it's 8.2 sq mi which should be plenty large enough to handle your AR210 for a bit. I would consider this a pretty small lake. Patoka is ~14sq mi, and we can run one end to the other in about 20min or so. I grew up on a lake (Taylorsville) that is ~4.8 sq mi. Taylorsville is still plenty entertaining though.

Quick Satellite checkout shows two marina's with takeout, and about 4-5 ramps. Navionics has charts on it. Looks like a pretty deep lake (channel is over 100ft deep in places).

What's the fuel mileage penalty for towing as compared to without, and how much time can you spend on the water in reality? I always consider the "smiles per dollar" formula prior to adventuring off somewhere with the boat. Costs us ~10mpg in fuel usage just to show up with the boat as compared to empty, with no major time penalty in driving (cruise around 75 loaded or unloaded). We're considering taking it this weekend on a 4.5hr tow, just to spend 6hrs or so on the water on Sunday. We're making the drive anyway, and it gives us a reason to leave the inlaws house a little earlier :D.

Dropping the kid at the University for Dance Competition and she will be staying there so the Admiral and I are on our own for a few days.

@2kwik4u Thanks. I looked it up as well, but hard to guage thing sometimes like that. Members here tend to give that deep insight :)

I fished there a lot with my dad and his 16 ft Stratos with a 70hp Johnson. Haven’t been in probably 25 years but loved that lake.

If you don't take the boat check out Jungle Jim's in Cincinnati. It's half tourist attraction half supermarket and you can pretty much get anything you want there.

I live in Indy, but have never been there. All my friends that go/have been all say good things about the lake.

I second this.

Wife and I have a rule when we go. no Shopping Cart. Only buy what we can carry. Still never leave without at least a $100 spent. So much cool food in there!

There's an IKEA nearby as well. Also 1/2 tourist 1/2 home goods store. Can easily burn a day between those two locations alone.
