Wonder if the boats have the proper fixtures to hook to so they could be lifted with two Davit lifts or do they
have to go on a regular boat lift. The Davit lifts would be on concrete. Im looking at homes to buy and some
have Davits and some have regular four post boat lift.

They do not have any certified lifting point to my knowledge. A web sling would be the route to go unless you want to get into cutting the deck open and building it back out from the stringer to strengthen 4 points.

Good info to know. Sounds like a four post standard boat lift would be the way to go.
I wonder what the lift rating 8000, 10,000 for a 19ft model.

Thanks for the info.

You would need to add some reinforcement backing plates to the inside of the bilge where the bolts go through. Here’s some pics of friends boat he bought from a guy that used a lift like that. The previous owner added backing plates for reinforcement.

This is the inside of the bilge how the boat comes stock. Notice no reinforcement plates. You would not want to hang or tow heavy boat without reinforcing with metal plates IMO.

Thank you for the pictures, In the front the anchor hatch is open- did you modify that?

Not my boat and I'm not sure how often @Bill D comes on here these days to chime in but I believe that was also reinforced. I'll try and find any old pics he might have posted.

It would have to be reinforced some how. Looks like they added a ring to the back side of the bow eye.

@haknslash please tell me the hanging boat above doesn't live hanging like that. I'm hoping it gets swung around and placed on that concrete pad for storage.

Looks like there are chalks there to set it on.

That was from previous owner. Those v chalks on the deck are what hold the boat I would imagine.

so crane lifts the boat, swings it over to the deck, sets it on the chalks? seems like an overly complicated way to dock a boat.

I don't know if the guy always used those chalks. Just stating the obvious since they are visible. Many people simply leave their boat hanging on the crane......

With all the holes I drilled in my Yamaha, I would not be only concerned with pull-through / tear out at the lifting points. It is quite obvious Yamaha hulls are not heavily engineered - they are def on the thin side. I would be very concerned about hull distortion from the not-designed-and-built-for stresses the hull would see during this lifting / suspending process.

IMHO, unless a boat (of any type) was specifically designed to be lifted and suspended this way, I would NOT do it.

My guess is that's when you'd probably use the v blocks. Idk I don't live there or have one lol.

Yes and no. Sure beats paying money to install a lift 😉

Wonder if these are popular where the channel is too narrow to leave boats parked on both sides, or where regulations are in place where you can't block the channel or something like that.

Really interesting way of storing the boat regardless. I notice none of them have a roof overhead. Seems like the next logical step (aside from blocking the view of the channel from the home).

It’s a fairly common older way used in my area. Some areas of water do not allow you to put in pilings past your seawall, so that leaves crane davits or lifts that mount on the seawall as seen in the pic across the channel for the big boats.
