Looks like an easy enough job with a razor blade or seven. What is that, netting?

If it were mine I think I would pull the pump right out just to avoid any seal damageAlright.... after 2 hours and a badly cut finger I managed to get the net clear with the exception of the crap that’s wrapped up beyond the shaft. Any tips on getting it free? Will this come free during normal operation?

I’ve never done it, but there are posts about it showing it only takes about half hour. Also some videos on YouTube Looks easy enoughIs that a tough job? Keep in mind the extent of my mechanical knowledge is changing oil and spark plugs....
