Just spoke to the Service Manager at my local dealer. Apparently, Yamaha has issued a stop sale on boats with 12.3-inch screens. Like ours many are experiencing random shut down and rebooting. They have also begun issuing letters (I haven't received one yet) telling customers to stop using their boats.

In the meantime, I am waiting on replacement bunks.

Just called my local dealer. They said that they haven’t heard anything of the sort from Yamaha yet.

But….. once the service manager logged into the dealer site, he found a service bulletin stating exactly what kgower posted. Dealers are being urged not to sell 2023-2024 boats with the 12” screen until a fix is issued for them. No actual recall yet, but it’s coming very soon. Managed to get my boat first in line. Thanks @kgower for the heads up.

I was supposed to take delivery of 2024 222SD on Wednesday and was just told they can’t deliver it but should have the software fix this week. I called Yamaha customer support and they said they have no ETA on the fix and it must be approved by the coast guard, who knows how long that will take. Very frustrating, finally found what I wanted and can’t get it.

I guessing there won't be a fix this year. I don't know if it will affect the 2025's .

Good Lord... So its a software issue not a hardware issue. Got ya.

My salesmen txt me and said according to their Yamaha rep, they sent they fix to the engineers 2 weeks ago and it generally takes 2 weeks for approval. The dealerships are expecting it any day. We shall see. If it drags on too long I may be shopping again.

Lol holy shit it keeps getting worse. Is the 12" screen the one on the drive "D" and wake models? Is the AR and 222s safe?

Quick check and yes, the AR has a 5" and the S has a 9". Drive, E-series, and wake boats are affected.

Mine shut off and came back on the last time I was out on the lake. Very strange, but concerning. Guess I will bring mine in at the end of the season. I don't want to lose weeks of prime boating season here in hot Texas.

OR, they are trying to use software to overcome a hardware problem. It's tricky when we don't know what is really going on, to say one way or the other. Because it's so many boats I expect they will try their hardest to address it via software update, to prevent any parts replacements and keep costs down if they can help it.

Not sure of what all models are included. I just know that the 23 & 24 255XDs are in it.

My understanding from talking to my dealer is that once Yamaha releases an update, I can bring my boat by and they’ll upload and install the software update and I’ll be in my way in less than 30 minutes. Not sure all dealers make the process so convenient though.

I hope that's the case. Then there's the trailer issue with these 22 ft models that I'll need then to address also. Get all the fixes done at the same time.

Had mine shut off while out surfing, on maybe my 2nd time out. Thought I had done something and then the boat and screen powered back up. Hasn’t happened since but now I know what was going on.

Kinda good to hear.
I pray this update helps and it’s not a hardware issue since I’ve heard nightmares from guys trying to get replacement screens from Yamaha.

Heard from my dealer the software fix was released Monday.

My dealer emailed me to say that Yamaha has indicated the update is available.

Ain’t touching that update for a while… wanna see what other issues arise. Have jetset 24 coming up and don’t want the system to go down without some history on the fix.
Yea, I had 1 shutdown a while ago but nothing since and it was back up And running within seconds…

let me know how it goes.

btw, would be nice if Yamaha would give us an option of a flash drive/dongle etc to do the download(unless there is more involved) on our own vs trailering boats to a dealer and getting it done there. Major inconvenience

I had similar thoughts, but our screen has rebooted almost every time out. I guess 'll be the guinea pig. I should have the update installed by Monday. I didn't want to go to JetSet and lose my screen altogether. Time will tell.

Thanks to this thread I called my dealer and am heading there now to get the update. I'll let you know how everything goes once I'm back in the water on Friday

this is interesting because I was rushed in to signing all paper work on Sunday, so they could deliver the boat to me by Tuesday. And no update was available until Tuesday. Apparently the update didn’t help my boat because they tried installing it Friday and he said it is still not working. I’m not sure the exact issue all I was told was it was something with the ECM . But I would bet it’s the same issue you guys are having. I’m almost at the point of not even wanting the boat anymore.
