Unlike some politicians who can eat at the French Laundry or travel to foreign resorts like Cancun inspite of their own pandemic guidelines. However, most of us are doing our best to follow the guidelines and doing what it takes to be safe during this pandemic.
So tonight's dinner was based on what we missed during this pandemic. We missed the travel to places in the Great USA and to foreign lands and the food they got to enjoy while traveling. Three Places that were very popular was Cape Cod,MA for the cranberries, NAPA Valley, Ca for the wine and the food at the French Laundry and Vienna, Austria for the Opera and their famous desserts. So tonight was dedicated to food and wine from those locations. The bread was homemade cranberry and walnut loaf representing Cape Cod, the entree was Beef Stroganov with the emphasis on the mushroom sauce from Thomas Keller's, chef and owner of the French Laundry, recipe and dessert was a Vienna Apple and Cranberry tart. The wine was a 2017 Merlot from the Candlestick Vineyard, Howell mountain, NAPA Ca.6439BBFE-13CE-44A7-9515-C6DE430AFAB5_1_201_a.jpeg8AB79B47-6F90-4B10-A524-B6A1D7E06337_1_201_a.jpegAD53EE5B-2C27-4877-B8DA-91A63F435A51_1_201_a.jpegAD53EE5B-2C27-4877-B8DA-91A63F435A51_1_201_a.jpeg68E4DD4A-489B-4DBF-A06D-537950A7A169_1_201_a.jpeg26499964-C150-4BC5-868D-5970C709F63F_1_201_a.jpegA9851138-5D76-478E-AC52-E8BEBB4CEE4E_1_201_a.jpeg26499964-C150-4BC5-868D-5970C709F63F_1_201_a.jpeg

Ok, what I don't understand, tho, is how you got those pictures.

I mean, when I cook something that good looking (or even close), we sit down and eat it! Immediately! Then I go, 'aw, i should have taken a picture'...

So, what are your tips to actually getting a photo?

(oh, and that food looks great!)

Fortunately for me my wife and our guests know I like to take pictures of the food I cook so they bear with me while I take them.
Also I try and take my photos as I go along. in this case I made the bread and pie during the day and set the table early. this allowed me to take some photos before the main course was served. As to the main course I have my camera ready. Sometimes I will take pictures of my plate separately after I have served others. Some times I will take the photos just before I sit down.

I just don't know if I have that degree of preparation, patience... or a family who will wait that long. We have boys.

Well, something to which I can aspire! :)
