Courtesy lights?

I want to add more courtesy lights to the boat just for the fun of it. I know I want one on the bow. Should I add some around the back seats area(not the swim deck)? If so where to mount them? Want it a little brighter but not super bright. Asking before I order them. Thanks

I added a couple of small LEDs to my old boat and just two was all I needed. The new boat has plenty of LEDs.

I put one under the lip of one of the stern cockpit seats pointing across the cockpit, and I put one in the pass through on the engine hatch. These added enough light for people to board on the stern, enter the boat and find their seats (along with the standard cockpit courtesy lights).

find one of the one under the lip of the seat, but it was up and to the left of the 6x9 polk in this photo.

LED speaker rings are also popular along with LED strips.

$14 for two. I wired 2 in the bow seating, 2 around the cockpit chairs, and 2 by the backseat cup holders. I also put three on the swim deck and wired them on a different toggle so I could turn them on independently. Our boat also came with 4 stock white courtesy lights and I changed them out to blue as well. Here are few pics. The lighting doesn’t look as good in the photos as they do in real life. They’re not super bright but they get the job done for courtesy purposes.

Thank y’all. Honestly it’s a waste of money. I only boat at night maybe one night a year but I don’t have any projects going on right now so I figured I would play with the lighting. Thanks again

LED strips tucked under the cushions in 11 places. RGB so I can select any color I want and dim. Honestly, most of the time trying to use on the water, swarms of bugs magically appear. I get most of the enjoyment from them when garage boating or cleaning the boat at dusk after a long day on the lake. Still way worth it!

Not just location; also time of year. I think it has just been unfortunate timing for me that when I have been out and excited to use them, the bugs happened to be crazy.

But that's a great question, I used to wonder why noone mounts massive light bars to their towers, but after a few night cruises is came to understand that they make it much worse. Best bet is to just have your navigation lights on, and dim the dash and interior as much as possible.

Forward facing lights are really only for docking, or other specific cases where you are looking for other very close obstructions at low speeds.

Nothing. Its illegal to run "headlights" on a boat....or have your idiot buddy holding a spot light. I have had to yell at countless drunk people at the lake about this!
