Been out 3 times on my '15 LS, and I want to add navigation. I really want to install the Garmin 70DV (7inch touchscreen). The 2015's have the Connext, which provides every bit of information that you could even want, but they also have these 2 Analog looking RPM Gauges. They do nothing more than display RPM's. I don't typically find myself looking at them, as it's easier to look at the RPM's on the Connext screen while checking the depth (Also on the Connext screen). So would it be ok to mount the Garmin in front of these gauges? what is the downside?

downside is it would mess up a nice clean dash, unless you could cut a new dash without the analog gauges and a new spot for the Garmin, we had a member fabricate a new dash fairly easily a year or two ago.

a bigger question may be is, did they finally make it nema 2k compatible and you can see everything on your garmin and you don't even need the Connext screen?

According to the Electronics shop, they said it was Nema 2K, but the Connext does more than engine. it's the control for the Stereo, the lights, etc etc...
Any additional info on this fabricated dash? That was my thought as well...but a new dash, and had it modified to flush mount the Garmin.

I didn't look at those gauges either while driving mine.

I couldn't find a link on jetboaters.net and googled for YJB but I can't open the link without signing in, maybe @Ronnie can figure out who the poster was and see if they are on here or ask them to post it here,

YJB member's name is Gadget69 from Lafayette, LA. I would encourage anyone interested (and with YJB capability) to check the treads out. Great looking work.

@Charles there was also a member that replaced a gauge with a ram mount, mounted to a piece of composite board. I think it was scrap ultimate bunk boards material. Anyway he replaced the gauge with a round cut out of the composite and mourned the RAM mount to that. Looked very clean and if I can find the thread... A picture will do much better at explaining it than I did. I will keep looking and edit my post if I can find it. If it was on the other site someone else will have to chime in.

@jetboater4life I think this was a mod you did but I can't find your instal thread.

Gadget definitely has skills. Other less complex and cheaper alternatives are to mount the nav unit under the dash, on a suction cup to the window or on an articulating arm seated in the cup holder on the dash. RAM is one manufacturer of the latter two mounts. I chose to mount my iPad mini running navionics on a ram mount in that dash cup holder. I like it because its easy for me to detach and take with me and I can position it so that it either blocks the speedo and part of the each tach or flatten it out so that it blocks nothing.
