Hopefully you'll never need this information, but I learned (while researching my other timing chain thread) that you need to clamp your cooling hose when being towed over 10mph to prevent flooding your engine. When your motor is off towing can force water up through the normal exhaust manifold cooling loop and into an open cylinder.

This could turn a little problem into a big one, so I wanted to share! If anyone has more information please elaborate where and how to clamp.

I've been towed in before and didn't have the clamps... SeaTow actually asked if I had clamps and seemed annoyed I didn't... They towed back in slow. Just to be extra careful, before I cranked the engine afterwards I pulled all the plugs and cranked it (this would allow water to fly out the spark plug hole and help prevent hydrolock), no water shot out so I knew I was good. Picked up a clamp from Amazon and keep it in the glove box now

I always kept 2 of these on the boat. Had to use one once, worked prefect. Lost an impeller bearing on one side.

Stupid question time. Can anyone point out on an AR192 the exact point where the hose should be clamped off?
