Has anyone drill and tapped their drain plug so they can use a drain plug light on the newer Yamahas? I think this is gonna b one of my winter projects.

Is the Yamaha not a 1/2" NPT? Most of the lights I've seen are. No tapping/drilling required, if so.

Ugh. Forgot about the new Yami hull design. (I'm livin' in the past!)

No, I doubt the one I linked to would work.

I have had both, and the plastic one is easier to insert and remove and can't be lost. I'd trade you if I could. I have the bronze one now. Don't change it if you can help it.

How'd you mount it? Really not wanting to drill a hole in my boat in fear of it leaking
Use shallow screws with 5200 in the mount holes and run wire up above the water line and in thru the hull.

Just drill a hole in the boat and use a proper light. Those drain plug lights scare the crap out of me, just something to get snagged on a log and rip a giant hole out the back of your boat.

Sealing underwater holes is so much simpler than you think once you get the courage to bust out the drill.
