Hello to all I am new to the forum, and I am looking for a solution. I went to start our 2016 242x e series boat today for the first time after the long winter to then launch the boat and both motors started fine but then the check drive control message came across the screen. I then noticed that the gate on the starboard jet was covering the jet and would not move when I was shifting it.

Whats weird is that the bucket operated fine in the fall when the boat got winterized and it has been sitting on the trailer for the winter and this problem happened before it went in the water, the only thing I did this winter was ran wires for new speakers that have leds in them because the speakers yamaha gives you with the boat are crap and not saltwater rated but thats another problem I have with them, but could I have pulled out a wire somewhere that would affect the control of the buckets by running those led light wires?

I had exactly the same issue today. When I say exactly I mean I even did speakers and led's too. Did you you find the problem? Solution?

My guess is it is low voltage on your battery. That is what my boat did with low voltage.

I took the boat into the shop and they claimed the shifting cable rotted and broke so they replaced the cable and it has been good, but it was not covered under warranty because we use the boat in salt water

I assume you rinse/wash the boat after each use in salt water and aren't wet slipping it for the summer in salt water? If that is the case I'd call Yamaha customer service to ask them if they'd like to explain why their ads have boats in salt water but they refuse to warranty them.

Yes we wash it down after each use and keep the boat on a lift during the summer. I had a 97 sea doo gtx for 20 years and had less problems then this boat that is 2 years old

I am going on 6 weeks at the local Yamaha dealer with the starboard engine not accelerating and drive control alarm sounding. Yamaha is sending a field tech. I'll keep you posted!!
