So what's everyone's preferred RPMs for cruising on plane, how about when putting around?

On plane, 5500-5800 is my happy place. Puts me at about 25-28ish MPH.

I have 3 presets in RideSteady, 6500, 6750 and 7000. I like 6500 most of the time, best sweet spot on the 190 for fuel vs speed vs noise. Gets me about 27mph with 4 to 6 people.

Not sure on RPM but I put the speed at 28 to 30 on my 212. That seems to be about the best fuel burn/ground covered ratio for me.

Well that's a silly question. The answer is always WOT!!

Seriously though, I like to listen to the engines and when they sound "in tune" while on plane I just go with it. Usually don't even have to look at the speed, I can tell by the sound of the engines and the posture of the boat when cruising.

I am one with the boat, and the boat is with me

Fast enough to feel like I am going somewhere, but slow enough so that the admiral isn't getting bounced around and yelling "Slow the F... Down!"

Although right around 7000 +- rpm's I can't hear her anyway, so all is good:)

4900-5200 = 27-28 mph. Typically just the wife and I.

I'm usually a little lower 6k-6.3k or so. Similar speeds and loads.

When we ran down the Cumberland to Nashville from Old Hickory, I set the "cruise assist" at 6,200rpm. Wind was calm and water was dead flat. Got about 31mph. Felt like the right compromise of "hurry up and get there" with "Don't waste fuel".

I was worried about fuel burn to get down there and back on the small tank. Ended up with almost 75mi of travel on that tank.

Should note I installed the cones (from Wet Wolf) to help reduce rpms at cruising speeds.

31mph at 6200rpm? Now that's impressive.

6000..... 27-28 mph 8 gph. The engines sound great and the ride is great. Been using the cruise assist a lot so far this season to adjust the speed.

If I’m looking for fish using 2D sonar along with side and down imaging, I leave the throttle’s in TDE and use no wake mode at 3 which gives about 4 mph with clear imaging..

That looks nice! I think I need to do some more tuning, better range would be huge.
I've wanted to put an actual flow meter on the boat and see what it does. I'm 99% positive the MPG calculated in the tach display is interpolated based on injector duty cycle (how long the injector is open) rpm, and fuel pressure.

With that said, I'm not sure a flow meter would offer even a single order of magnitude more accuracy. Be neat to see though :D

I did some tests with the wife and I driving and monitoring the trip info. My best economy based on Connext info is about 5100rpm, 27mph, 9.0 gph, for 3.0mpg at best range. If range is not a major concern which is most of the time as we trailer where we want to boat, then anywhere from 5000-6500rpm is fine as economy is still decent up to about 40mph and 2.7mpg...above that drag and efficiency gets worse and it starts to suck the fuel.

Snapped this pic last night. Wanted to make sure I was correct as others seem to have higher rpms than me. Full tank (90%) with 2 people into the wind.
