Interested in Purchasing 240/Handling

I’ve been an inboard boater for 30 years. However, I’m really considering the 240 for the interior space and lack of paying for winterizing every single year along with additional safety of Jets for grandkids. Seems like 2013 and 2014’s can be purchased reasonably. A friend who has a 2017 240 told me not to purchase the models prior to 2015 because Yamaha made key changes to help ease handling starting with 2015. Just wanting to make a solid decision and not drop 60,000.00 in the process. Appreciate your advice!

The newer 240 models have updated huls and articulating keels that generally make the boat track and turn better but I would not use that as the sole reason not to look at something older. I’ve owned a 2007, 2010, and 2022 Yamaha. All great boats.

I started off with an I/O for one year and moved on to a Yamaha AR230, so minimal boating experience. I can maneuver the Yamaha better than I ever did my crownline I/O. Does it take time to get used to? Sure, just take it slow and you’ll figure it out. I feel very comfortable maneuvering my yami now.

We love our 230 though, love not having a prop exposed since we have two kids (5y/o & 17Mo). So easy to winterize and work on it myself.
