I just installed my new bearings on my jet pump and I'm still adding oil to the bearing but there is a little resistance. No noise at all. Seems to loosen up a little when I spin it. Is this normal?

Never mind I figured it out. The shaft isn't pressed in enough. At first I thought it was too far so I backed it out

Shoot, one side of mine hardly started yesterday. Ran rough for a couple seconds and smothed out after about a minute.
Not watching the video right now as i am helping my 6 year old with difficult words and i don't want to distract him.

@Murf'n'surf and I had the same reduction in pump noise after changing the bearings. I changed to an oil bath but he stuck with grease. My opinion is that the change in sound (reduction / elimination of scraping sounds) is due to the new bearings keeping the shaft perfectly centered.

Just in case someone does this project and doesn't know whelivh way to turn the wrench to pull the impeller off. Set up something like this and push down. It came off easily when I figured this out IMG_3979.JPG

That is exactly right! But you were lucky to have it come off easy, it will usually require some kind of a cheater bar or pipe.
Thanks for posting, I love your set up.

Thanks. I used a gear puller to press the bearings in. The whole job took a little longer than a hour per side
