I just upgrade my jet with a Cobra Jet Steering FOR The MERCURY V 6 Optimax Unit on my Harbercraft 1775 Extreme Duty.

Very easy to instal and give to the boat a better stability in full throttle mode, correct the dancing aspect and don't have to correct the steering all the time!

At low speed you feel a better reaction or response, and minimise the delay when you turn from one side to the other side !

When I did this upgrade to a Merc 240efi, I was so worried about those tiny screws. But Jeff assured me, they will hold. And in all the years I ran it, they never gave way or fell out. He knows what he is doing.

They did help, that's for sure. I don't think the Merc SportJet needed them as much as the Yamaha boats need them. But it was a noticeable improvement and worth the investment.

Good luck!
