I finally got around to I installing my ballast pump upgrade. The size and quietness of running are the big differences I noticed. That and it fills over twice as fast!!

I guess some specifics would be nice. The pump on the left is my "old" pump but has only been used to fill and empty the bags once. That is a 300 gph pump and it took 40 minutes to fill my 2 400 pound fly high sacs and 1 800 pound sumo sac in my ski locker. The new pump is a 720 gph pump and math says it should only take 15 minutes. That suits me just fine because I have another 1450 lbs to fill with a over the side pump. When I actually get the boat on the water I will get you guys some specifics on fill and drain times on my whole system.

I notice that you used the insert thread fittings on the pump. While handy they do reduce the pump flow due to the small internal diameter of the fitting. To reduce your fill time even more you could use 1" hose which fits over the pump spigot with a hose clamp. A guy could also drill those fittings out quite a bit to increase the internal diameter. They don't have to be that strong and a small diameter increase makes a huge increase in flow rate by (D/2) squared. For example, an increase from 1/2" to 5/8" inner diameter would give 1.5X more flow. Sorry. Engineer. Cam.

I did that for simplicity Cam. As you can see in the first picture the first pump had that OD fitting, and I thought that was a good idea incase I ever had to pull the pump out for some reason to replace an impeller or something, because as you know that hose is a PITA to get on and off. Kind of a quick change option. I am sure the decreased flow time is marginal in relation to my increase in GPM for the new pump.
