Looks like you had much calmer water than what we had the past week. Can't wait to see what is in the 2nd video!

Ive fished my whole life, and have never run a boat forward when reeling in a fish on hook.. everyone has their own way though I guess. Hell we even back the boat to the fish sometimes..

Both, Ive caught everything from Yellowfin Tuna, Mahi-Mahi, a 500lb Blue Marlin, Amberjack, Wahoo, Sharks you name it.. Never once have I ran the boat forward after the hook is set.. Usually the fish grabs what you are trolling with and runs the other direction, pulling away from you reeling it in.. I can count on one hand the amount of times that a fish has swam towards the boat faster than we could reel in the line, than and only then would we run the boat forward..

I guess if you are only going 1 maybe 2 knots its reasonable to move forward, but if a fish is peeling off line, you are only fighting yourself by moving away from whatever is on the hook.

I have seen it done both ways. I think it really depends on the type of fish. If fishing for mahi mahi you must keep the boat moving or the fish will get off. They don't have strong mouths so the hook is able to work itself out if they run to the boat, I learned this lesson the hard way. Bass fishing, obviously you are not moving.
