My original plastic navigation light has long since disintegrated and I had replaced a number of years ago. There was a problem in finding a replacement light that had a footprint that would work with the unique "platform" for the light placement....i.e., there isn't just a flat surface for any type and size of light to fit. I found a replacement but it had an incandescent bulb as at the time there wasn't an LED based light that would fit.

So the other night of course....the light quit working. I took it apart and the bulb glass had broken away from base. I had almost got it rigged with some bare copper wire to work but it was intermittent. My buddy ended up sitting in the front and put the red/green plastic cover over high iPhone light. Worked pretty well and got us home.

I ordered a new one from Amazon and it was way too big. I paid attention to the size/footprint and found one that worked. I'm going to keep it as a spare. I also in the mean time found an LED bulb version that worked in my existing light. I thought I would share both. The LED bulb replacement for an existing incandescent bulb is great. Much brighter and probably more reliable with longer life.

The light below has integrated LEDs and has a footprint that works on our boats. I wish it was metal vs plastic, but it seems to be fairly solid.

Glad you found a solution! And thanks for sharing your success story!

If you are not satisfied with this new light, you might try Attwood, or T-H marine for starters for another nav light. They will probably me a lot more than $25 bucks though.

Cost or availability of choices wasn’t an issue. There is a curved raised area for the light. It’s about 2” wide and 3” long. This eliminates most of the choices.

Ok now I'm worried. I have one of these in the mail due here in a few days. Wondering if your original purchase is the one I have coming in. Guess I'll find out in a few days. By the way you can also toss the white light bulb (#906?) in the anchor/running light and put in an LED. I have a pair of those coming with the Nav Light.

This is the LED bulb I replaced the 906 bulb in my anchor light with. I used it recently overnight, it’s bright and draws less current than than the incandescent.

Aloha,

I received the new Nav LED Light and I believe it will work in the OEM location. It turned out to be a rather small form factor and is rated at USCG 2 NM plus its cased in a stainless steel housing. Not sure it was worth the $45.00 though. I did put in the LED at the anchor light position and even in bright sunlight yesterday it was super bright. A definite improvement over the OEM.

Had this one saved on a list but can't take credit believe I got it from a "Capt Leon" video.
