I was browsing the Yamaha boat website and noticed that the 2019 version of my boat (2012 212SS), holds 5.3 liters of oil per engine. My engines hold only 4 quarts per engine, and yes they are the 1.8 liter engines. Does anyone know if this is accurate info, and if it is, what has changed to now allow for nearly 1.5 additional quarts of oil?

What does service manual say?
I would be surprised if that changed.

Total is (was?) 4.3 l, 3.1l with oil filter replacement, 3.0l without.

This is 2012, I know the 2016 has not changed but I’ll check and confirm tonight.

Oh really, I always put approximately 4 quarts in my engines, although I can never completely evacuate all of the oil out of each engine. So I end up adding about 3.5 quarts per engine.

So I am wondering how does the new 1.8's claim to hold 5.3 liters (basically 5.3 quarts).... Larger oil pan?

I’m very curious!
But I would like to see it in the service/repair manual.

Mine always takes exactly 4 quarts to fill after oil and filter change
3.28 quarts would only put it at the low mark on the indicator

It does state 3.81 quarts for oil and filter change. Which is more accurate

I just checked my 2015-2018 AR240 manual, it's exactly what @Neutron posted above.
No idea why it is different than my 2012 manual, I don't think I get different amounts of oil in or out...
