Hello, new here and just bought a 16 Scarab 165 HO and am considering a tower. I hear some complaints about poor quality and noisy. If you have one you really like on a 165, please reply. Thanks
I am of little help as to Scarab-specific, but I can give you this input:
I was pretty new to boating when I got my boat and had the same tower/no tower question. I opted for the tower and am happy that I did, despite infrequently using it for watersports. Why?
- It is a great thing for people without sea legs to grab onto, especially when boarding/disembarking
- Makes it easy to get from the back deck forward into the boat when it is crowded with people/coolers (I just grab the tower and hop over)
- Great place to hang things, like wet towels
- Good place to mount speakers (I haven't done this yet, but it is coming soon)
- You can attach kneeboard/wakeboard racks to it
