New member who wants some advice

I am looking at buying a 2013 Yamaha SX190 in the Atlanta area. It has been kept in the water for 5 or 6 months out of the year, then garaged the rest. Does keeping the boat in the water reduce the life of the gel coat? It has about 150 hrs. on it and I have the price down to $19,000. Any advice or things I should look for?

No....I've wet slipped boats for years, and each fall they come as clean as new with a proper cleaning. I wouldn't buy it dirty though....as it will cover up any gel coat damage that you want to be able to see.

Good point on the cleaning. He won't pull it out of the water until I agree to buy it, but he did say he would have it detailed. Do you think $19k is a fair price for a 2013? Other than deluxe mooring cover, there is nothing extra on this boat. I am also looking at a 2015 in a neighboring state that he says is in perfect condition and with brakes on the trailer for $23k. Haven't seen it yet but a little nervous about buying a boat in another state. Makes the transaction more complicated.

Is the boat that was stored in the water in Salt or fresh water? If it's salt water, make sure to inspect the pump area and engine area for signs of corrosion.
