Stock tongue jack is a piece of crap, wheel folded in on itself, trailer doesn't seem stable etc. I purchased a Fulton XLT as it was one of the few that actually fit this frame ( 5" x 3" ) of these trailers.

here is the jack mounted, that circle under the bow stop is where the old jack sat, from what I can tell there isn't any aftermarket jacks that fit where the OEM jack mounted. Now that I look at this pic, it almost looks like the jack isn't perpendicular to the ground, I'll ask fulton when I talk to them. I may also move the jack to the other side of the bow stop, it would be easier to raise and lower the boat (less weight). I also moved the bow stop towards the rear of the trailer by about 3 inches. You can see the cleaner area of the trailer where it was moved (base of the bow stop, look at the trailer frame)

Here is the mounting that I do not like. I am going to call fulton tomorrow and ask their opinion, I can't find the instructions, but there really isn't many ways to install this thing. Check out how the brackets don't really touch the frame all that much. I'm going to turn the brackets on the opposite side over next time I am near the trailer.

What you have mounted on the top and bottem should be on the sides.
That is why there is multiple holes for different size frames. If it doesnt fit that way its the wrong application
And i believe the 2 braces on the other side should be reversed

It doesn't fit the other way, but I am going to go back and take another looks. The jack is supposed to fit a 3 x 5 frame so I mounted it the way it fit.

I would return it. Its incorrect for that frame. It needs to be installed on the flat side.
The bolts should be tight on the top and bottem of the frame

Agreed, Good Catch @Neutron ...

All that weight of the boat will be on those 2 bolts and not the bracketed frame..

Agree with others the mounting holes should vertical not horizontal. This way you can adjust to use the mounting holes closest to the frame.

I MAY be as dumb as I look, but I quickly lined things up yesterday and it DID NOT fit with the holes vertically. Vertically the holes are 5" apart and horizontally (the way I have it) they are 6" apart. I know, doesn't make sense, didn't make sense to me, that's why I am posting it.

I am going to call fulton right now and ask them to look at this thread OR I will send them the pics.

I've never really dealt with owning a trailer or boat, so I am learning as i go. It was a pain to figure the tongue jack out because there isn't a replacement for the OEM model, seems they only mak generic bolt ons or you can order the exact same one that came on the trailer, no way to beef it up.

Called fulton, left a message, let's see if they call back....

Would something like this work?

@rsg1963 , that is the alternative mount that fulton offers so you dont have to use four bolts. It needs to be welded on and the jack mounts directly to it.
