By popular demand, we've added a new trophy for those members who have cut a hole in their boats!

I have added the option in your account settings to show this. This will in turn trigger the system to award you a trophy (should happen in the next 24-48 hours after making your selection).

This is self attesting, but we reserve the right to ask for a photo or link to the thread you posted your hole making! LOL

Hole so far in my boat:
  1. Two 5.5 inch holes for new helm speakers!
  2. 1.5 inch hole for transducer! These are always ones I sweat more about!
  3. 2 Inch hold for fume detector.
  4. 1.5" holes for USB charging ports
  5. Lots of wiring holes and others I'm sure!
The holes for the 6x9 inch speakers on my SX230 were pucker ones too....and I had to cut those by hand (no round hole saw).

List of all my mods (its in my signature too - Under 242X, if you don't see my signature turn your phone sideways)

So it starts by filling holes in your boat and feeing good about it then you cut your first hole and then the world is your Oyster... :beaver:

I submit that I have provided sufficient documentation...

Drilled a few in the Yamaha for the trim tab controller, swim deck remote and running/hiding wiring in the tower tubing so it exits under deck. If that counts. I drilled a bunch on the Beneteau for the windlass, flush mount rod holder, Navpod and instrument wiring hidden in the pedestal guard. Running the Raymarine x-ducer cable/connector from forward on the hull to the navpod thru several bulkheads, 1 1/4" dia. That was the best part. Then I had to cut the cable, install and solder splice the x-ducer cable back together, keeping the shielding intact because the connector was too big to slip thru the pedestal guard. I did that so I would not have to cut bigger holes in the navpod.

Only a couple holes here. Mid cabin speakers, 2 USB charge ports, second bilge pump discharge, flush VHF radio install and multiple holes in the tower for speaker wires and VHF radio antenna.

Great idea Julian. If sucking up a rope gets one having the courage to cut big holes certainly should.

Holes larger than an average split point drill bit…
2- 10 inch subs
2- 6.5 mid cabins (thanks Julian for pioneering this in our model)
3-ballast intakes
3-ballast pressure reliefs
1-USB/voltmeter
1-tap handle
1-ballast switch bank
1-trim tab controller
1-second/backup bilge output
1-accessory air hose pass through

Holes the size of an average split point drill bit…
More than I wish to count

I cut the dash hole for my Simrad Go9 the day after I picked the boat up from the dealer. Defiantly was a stressful moment at the time. The Holes for the transducer and 2 bow rod holders wasn't as bad, Hole saws make it easier I think.

1-tap handle, attached to a kegerator for the win. One of the most unique mods I have ever seen here.

1: Two 6.5's mid cabin speakers
2: one 10" subwoofer port helm
3: Noco plug receptacle portside next captain's chair

Will be adding interior lights soon. Expect to cut 8-10 3/4" holes to run wires.

3/4 inch holes for wires??? Hope you meant 1/4 inch....even that sounds large. Most wires I run, I'm able to follow existing wires and zip tie to them and cut no holes.

The harnesses provided are probably closer to a half inch 1/2". Haven't thought the project through yet although I have the lights on hand. I am open to suggestions.

Giant hole with jigsaw in the back of the swim deck for a radio control. Scariest thing I've done on my boat so far!1669671355122.png
