I am thinking about buying a SX190 but was wondering if my Nissan Frontier could pull it out of the water? Anybody have any thoughts or experience with the Frontier?

I pulled our 190 with a RAV4 and a Honda Odessey. You should have no problem. I also have pulled a heavier boat with a 2wd S-10 and never had any problems (keep in mind the landing was clean no sand). Do you have 4wd?

I had a frontier crew cab with the 6 speed manual and I pulled our SX210 without an issue.

Thank you for the reply. No I don't have 4wd.

Thank you for the reply. This was very helpful.

As lite as the 190 is I don't think u will have a problem..
My current boat is less than half the weight of a 190 and with a 30 gallon fuel tank I am concerned about getting up the ramp.

I have the 195 and have never lost traction on any ramp I've used & there have been some junky ones. I have a Ram 1500 but I doubt you'll have any problems. Good luck!

I think 4x4 is a must (or least real good tires) Our ramps are pretty slippery. Of course I would rather be safe than sorry.

I pulled and launched my SX190 with a V6 2WD Chevy Equinox. Really it boils down to towing capacity of the Frontier. The SX190 is light, loaded with gas and stuff I'd guess its under 3500lbs. A quick google search shows Frontier towing capacity of between 3500lbs to 6500 lbs depending on truck configuration. This was for a 2017, not sure what year/configuration you have.

I have a 2013 2wd Nissan Frontier and I pull my 2016 SX190 all over the place, even on long 300 mile plus trips.

On steep or slippery ramps I use 1st or 2nd gear on the automatic transmission.

Also, I user a hitch with a 2 in riser.

Thanks for the input. Why the 2" riser?

Thanks for the reply. My Frontier has a tow capacity of 6300 lbs. But I am guessing that is for flat ground towing.

Thanks. I just looked at my hitch and it also has a 2" riser. Must be a low hitch bracket.

Yes, the receiver is a little low and the 2 in riser allows the trailer to be level.

Assuming its a newer Frontier with a V6 i can offer direct review... our boat is 3300lbs with trailer. We have a 2012 pathfinder, with 4.0. rated for less, but Pulls better than my v8 dodge dakota with towing package. We had to add a drop 2" hitch though, truck sits high. (4wd)

to the river, 20 miles, we use my truck. for the 1 hr trek north to Coralville reservoir, we use the pathfinder. I was actually quite shocked at how well it handled it. Towed to Ozarks. 4+hrs, perfectly.

as a side note, I owned a 98 frontier, reg cab 4 cyl 5 speed for 15 yrs. I beat it to hell. Towed atvs ALL over this country with it. LOVED that truck. However, completely missed the instruction to not tow heavy loads in 4th. and ruined the transmission LOL 4th is on main shaft, no extra bearing to wear. but still, it pooped the bed at 170,000. Really only got rid of it because I couldnt fit my two boys and me in it any more. Id still have it.

Great trucks, In my opinion. with the v6, 19' boat, NO problem.

Thanks you probably just saved my tranny.

do you have the older model? (platform changed a bit in 2005 i think)aren't the newer ones a 6 speed? check your manual....

On my 4 cylinder truck, the bad part is... this was written on the sun visor. AND, every day i could have read that. NOPE. totally ignored it lol. it was on there with the manual hub instructions.

I should add that my 2013 Frontier is the crew cab (4 doors) and has a v6 engine.
