Just pulled the boat out of the water after cruising the river for the night. Took the portside cleanout plug out and it was full of water like normal. The starboard side, however, was dry and very warm. I had thought that the boat was loud and I thought I felt a vibration in the floor, but I chalked it up to being a noobie and paranoia. We ran no wake most of the way back because of how late it was so I never noticed any cavitation. I checked the cleanout port and didn't feel any debris after I pulled it. I also got underneath it when I got home and didn't see anything lodged in there.

How worried should I be right now? We were planning on going out tomorrow. Should I cancel that or is this just more noob paranoia?

I don't think that's anything to worry about. Sometimes mine are dry, sometimes a combination of wet and dry. There is some heat back there as your exhaust is right underneath the clean out area. My opinion is that you don't have an issue.

I agree with Johmas. Doesn't sound like anything to worry about.

I'm guessing that "very warm" is still in the scope of you could easily touch and hold it.

I wouldn't cancel my plans but would be monitoring it throughout the day. I would suggest unscrewing the manhole cover and looking down in the bilge area just for anything that just didn't look right, take another look at the impeller both from behind the jet and from underneath and make sure you pee hole indicators are working when your on the water and be mindful of your overheat light on your tach the first few hard runs of the day

It could be you did suck something up and it just fell out when you took the boat out of the water,

Didn't notice any issues today. Pulled the plugs after we got done and both were full of water. Starboard was warm water and the other was just normal lake water. Will definitely keep an eye on it. If you think it's something more serious I'm all ears. Thanks guys.

Sometimes mine are wet, others times dry. On the 242, they most often are wet as water will boil up onto the platform when coming off a plane. The water in mine has also been warm from time to time...Nothing to worry about, as the starboard muffler's is right under there, and if you've been running a while it's not uncommon for some heat to transfer.

My vote is go out and enjoy your boat!
