I didn’t know this was a thing so I’m posting in case it can help others out. I could have used something like this over the weekend. The reason I needed them was to tie my bumpers to them instead of hanging off the boat. The dock I was using was higher than the boat. I ended up hanging them off the tower, but that doesn’t cover the length of the boat.

In case others prefer a different design, I use these: DOCK EDGE EZE Docker

I suspect both designs work well for what they are. I wouldn't trust them to hold my boat for extended periods of time, but I use them exactly like you, for fenders and such. But even as a temporary quick tie down. They hold pretty well if you don't have large waves.

I read the title. This shape is the first thing that came to mind. Really cool gadget.

Wonder how it holds up if you release tension on the line? Like if that bumper gets pushed upwards from getting stuck between the boat and dock and wakes raising/moving the boat.

Had some friends that always had cheap carabiners on hand for this sort of thing as well. The would just clip the dock lines to the structure of the floating docks around them, then tie off to a cleat. Won't work on a concrete dock though.

I keep a pair of the overtons ones on my boat and use them a couple times a year in temporary situations like loading, unloading, and a quick pop into a marina store. Very handy but would not leave boat unattended very long with them.

Good advice. Thanks!
