Swap angled for straight rod holders in gunwales?

Has anyone swapped the OE angled for straight rod holders in the gunwales? On the 210 FSH? I know there are aftermarket available but I don't "troll" and just use them when I'm moving locations. Was thinking somebody out there might have already blazed a trail.

I haven’t tried it, but I’m pretty sure that the hole (in the fiberglass) for the angled rod holder is bigger.

Let us know if you pull the trigger.

I'm thinking of going this route with stainless rings if the holes are not too big.

I'm still wondering what is wrong with the angled ones??? I'd leave them alone. ..never know when you might want to troll....

Don't troll and our lake can get rough at times. Not to mention I use the current vertical ones to hold rods when not in use spot to spot. Don't feel comfortable flying across the lake with a $300 rod leaning out. Just a preference I guess.

I am in the market for 1 OEM 90 degree rod holder as well. I'd like to find an OEM one so they match the ones on the stern. Been looking all over the place and cannot seem to find them and really don't want to order from the stealership......

I believe F4A-U2898-00-00 is the correct part number. You can find them at many parts outlets. However don't expect to get one to your door for much less than $60. Which SUX because I'd like 4-6 of them. My FSH is a deluxe with bimini (Sport not enough shade). So my rod holders on the sides of the console are useless.

Team, I have to share the following painful news: my wife tossed my old angled and 90 degree rod holders. Apparently she saw them sitting for over a year in the storage shed and decided to get rid of them.

I really wanted to share them with the crew here. Everyone here has always been helpful and forthcoming that it was the least I could do.

I’ll keep an eye out for any used ones for sale.
