So if you ski down the hill under a lift....Lily hits the chair lift? Or if you have it do a 360 view and there is a tree.....it ends up as an ornament?

I've heard of some ski resorts that have already banned drones....not heard of any lakes that have though!!! Would be cool on the boat.....says its waterproof, but does it float?

@GiddYupJoe told me about this a few days ago. I am thinking about placing a preorder for this tomorrow. Things to think about per the faq:
1. It does not have object avoidance capability. If you got under a bridge that it is lined up with it hits the bridge. 2. Max speed is 25 mph, if you have a head wind you need to account for that.
3. The camera is integrated so you get what you get, like it or not. 4. Range is 5 to 50 feet from the Homing device in follow me mode. 5. It does float.

delivery is stated as few 2016. From experience, My estimate is that it will be at least 2 to 6 months late but on a preorder you pay for it immediately.

I just showed my wife and she really liked it...she may get it. I love it when I make her think something is really cool so she decides to get it. I just planted the seed.

I forgot to mention that the battery is integrated too and has a 20 minute life, afterwards it will take two hours to charge.

I'm still thinking about preordering one but realize that it has a lot of limitations where the camera, obstacle avoidance and battery life are concerned. I also dont like the idea of having $500 more added to the balance of $1250 for another follow me drone that I won't have for months. I made the mistake of asking for permission to order the airdog, I'd be shooting for foregiveness or indifference if I order the lily.

I asked about using my phantom 2 at the ski resort I go to. They have not banned them but require proof of insurance and a big payment to close off the run you will be using it on. Too much hassle for me. With one of these or the air digit could probably use it on the less visible slopes at least for the last runs of the day before being told to stop but I don't think it would be worth the risk. If this hits a skier or boarder at speed it could mean a trip to the e.r. And a call to a lawyer. Ama (association of model aircraft) insurance won't cover incidents like that.

So no one here has preordered one yet?

My finger is on the button but I'm not sure I want to be first again. Sometimes when you preorder they will let you now what number you are. If you get in early you get yours in the first batch but you also get the greenest version there is.

If anyone preorders if like to know what number they are so that I can time my order better, I'd rather be in the second batch to give lily sometime to find and fix bugs I'm the first batch.!

Funny one from the FAQ:

Can I use Lily to spy on my neighbors?
Lily is always pointing at you and less than 100ft from you (pro tip: best shots are in the 10-30ft range). Also, Lily’s motors make noise. So other people will most likely notice Lily and quickly figure out where you are. You are better off climbing up a tree and using binoculars.​

Looks like it's one of the buttons on the tracking device. They don't spell out what each button does, but I'm guessing one is for each follow mode, and one is to land/take off?

25 mph is good enough for wakeboarding and certainly surfing. I am a late adopter so I need some of you guys to buy it and convince me I need it.

I think it is a neat concept. I am not convinced on the $500 up front payment for something they say you could receive in 9 months. I bet it takes longer. There is a lot of development in this area. My guess is that if I preordered something else that I liked better would be released before the Lily. If not I will spend $1,000 when they are actually available.

If it was a preorder with payment to be made when they deliver I would have already signed up. This business model does not give the developer incentive to deliver.
