Has anyone had good results from using trailer guide post? How many inches away from the boat are you setting them. The back of the boat is a little narrower than the middle

I'm pleased with mine, make backing up an empty trailer a whole lot easier to see.

I set mine a couple inches away that way when the wider part of the boat hits them it lines the boat up perfectly straight no matter what speed your going. When this rain stops I'll take a measurement for you.

I use the CE Smith 60" guides with LED's on top. They help a ton, especially if you boat on a river with current or in windy conditions. The guides will tell you how much to space them from the side of the boat/rub rail. I think it's around an 1"-2" or something like that. you don't want them so close they will rub as you back off the trailer but you don't want them so far out that they still allow the stern to swing out off the trailer in deep water. Mine are right around an 1" I believe.

Love ours, helps back an empty trailer down a ramp. Mine are spaced out further from the sides, id say 6-7" I might have to bring them in and get pads for them. I dig them skull ones!
