Hi, so I just ordered CANDOO Pro out of necessity. A user on Facebook gave me the idea that we could have a centralized repository whereby anyone who has this software and is willing to share it (for presumably a small fee or not), would post their location. Would help reduce costs for some boat owners, especially the ones that just need to reset a light or something of the sort.

Someone who needs to use it could look up this database and find someone nearby (if they exist) and contact them about borrowing it, or coming over, etc. to use it.

Thoughts? The license allows for 4 different VINs (at least the Home version).

I'll go first, but if this is of interest and I see a lot of posts, I may make a spreadsheet that is publicly available that could be "stickied" at the top of the forum

I’m in! Happy to help a fellow Scarab owner out!

@jtwrace , I'm not familiar with Yamahas, but good to do this for Yamaha owners too presumably. Maybe we should make a more mainstream thread on the main page instead of under Scarab only?

hey Luc, im in need of a Candoo. i do all my own work so it makes sense. we should work something out. i can shoot you half the cost or something and share it. we can ship back and forth as needed.....

@Scarabpaul interesting... once I get it, I'll set it all up and give it a go first. I want to see how "sharing" would work. I'll send you a PM afterwards. Total cost CAD was $600 (including the shipping to Canada). I definitely wouldn't say no to reducing that cost... if somebody else in Ontario wants it too.. it could just reduce our costs further and I'd just share the cost savings with our little group equally. Shipping should be fairly cheap via Canada Post between us. Too bad you're not closer though! lol

sounds good, PM me. I'm also on the Scarab facebook page so i saw your post there. definitely too bad we we are not closer but Canada post would be no problem, even fedex for that matter. there is another member thats on the facebook Page near me( Miguel), depending if he does his own work he may want in... its really up to you, i'm good either way.

Yeah, there's a few other Ontario folks I know. We could easily do a little survey and find out who else would be willing to do this and split things equally. The only downside is it's likely the tool won't be at your place when you need it. lol So we'd have to be patient and wait a few days as needed. Of course, trusting that everybody would ship when requested, but I suspect that won't be a problem. It's a benefit to all of us in saving quite a bit of dollars on something you rarely need. But let's talk once I have a chance to make it work over here. Definitely something worth considering.

Anyone in the Ohio - Sandusky Bay region with a CanDoo Pro. I am in need of a "maintenance" reset. I changed the oil myself last couple of years and have not been able to reset the maintenance notice. I will also be looking for a good Rotax mechanic this fall for the 200-hour supercharger rebuild service.

Thanks in advance.

i have a candoo pro that i used for my jet skis. is this the same system? If so i am in ohio on grand lake stmarys

thats interesting. im going to hook it up to my boat. i thought i needed a powerpack to hook up to it

You do need enough licenses. The "home" version comes with 4 vehicle licenses. They are stored inside the hardware.

yep i get that but since i only have one 300hp engine i should only need one licenses croccet? or is there something funny about it

This is such a good idea... I am totally in. I plan on doing all the work myself on my 180 Challenger SE. @Luc Lafreniere send me a PM once you try it out.

@2019scott195wake300 to my knowledge, yes. One vehicle license only.

@Miitch agreed. I've learned that it stores those licenses permanently into the hardware. So once it's taken, it can't be removed. But apparently you can buy more licenses at an extra cost afterwards.

I've decided to share mine with 3 other Ontario guys. Waiting on the last few people to confirm, but once they do, we're simply splitting the cost 4 ways, or $150 CAD each. I made a box for it and we'll just mail it to each other as needed. Trackable shipping. Obviously there is a delay in getting it, but then again, there's a delay getting it to the dealer too! Also, you need to trust the others but you risk $150 instead of $600 CAD.

If for some reason one of those guys doesn't want to participate, I'll let you know and see if you're interested in taking their place.

I think it’s a great thing. Something to note is that twin-engine boats only count as 1 on Candoo. It recognizes Port and Starboard engines, but only take up 1 of the 4 available spots. I believe you can upgrade to an unlimited license for a fee.

I’m in Toronto/Port Severn. I purchased a Candoo Pro this winter for my 215HO after enduring a bunch of check engine light issues last summer and being without the boat for weeks as it waited for a dealer to service. I haven’t actually had to use it so far this year. Hope I didn’t just jinx myself!

Sounds good! I would most definitely be interested in taking their spot. Also, if you end up finding out how much an extra license is, let me know.. worst comes to worst i can just purchase an additional license and give everyone a percentage of the cost back to them? Just keep me posted. I appreciate everything the idea.

Thanks for the offer, but that is a stretch. Like 3+ hour one way drive from me.
You say "i Used for my jet skis". Do you no longer have a need for it and are willing to sell?
Any other locals have anything to offer? Marblehead, Sandusky, Port Clinton?
Thanks Again.
