Good morning all... Quick question we've been tossing around the idea of heading that way soon. Port Deposit marina launch would be the closest to us.. also in Harrisburg area (Carlisle). May be dumb question, but how busy does it get? Is there decent parking room? Would a weekday be better for our first time in the area, compared to holiday weekend? Thinking of Saturday possibly, if weather permitting of course. Keeping options open for the weekend. Gotta get the pup back on her boat soon! Thank you.

Plenty of Parking. If you are there before 9am, it won’t be that busy. After that it can get a bit busy, it’s a small dock/ramp, but I don’t think it’s anything crazy like I’ve heard Lake Clark area gets. It’s $10 (last I checked) for guest ramp fee - find the pay box next to the ramp and put the tag in your window, they do check and you will get fined $50 if you don’t pay. Or you can contact the port deposit ramp and pay $50 for the season pass.

Also - are you familiar with the waters? Go to Page 6 and see my post (#110) and Stealth’s post (#109) on May 25th, 2023 of areas to avoid. Basically don’t cruise the coast line directly opposite from the port deposit ramp it’s rocky. Stay in port deposit side of the waters when near the ramp. Other than that it’s a great area to boat. I am hoping to be out, so keep an eye out we have a Corgi and typically go to Fishing Battery Island to hangout.

Nope will be first time down that way. I have seen that about the rocks. Yes don't want that at all.. I've been stalking this thread a good bit! Lots of good information. How far is it to Fishing Battery island, from Port?

20 - 25 minutes. Follow the channel markers. See Red Circle. Oh if you go to FBI - it’s best to have two anchors, one off the front and one off the back. Everyone at the island is typically very nice and will help get you in and out (if you get boxed in don’t worry). The island gets crowded on Holidays. Watch your depth finder if you get outside the channel, can get shallow pretty quick.

We also like to hangout in the blue circle area. It’s no wake over there and not as crowded as FBI. Plus we can anchor under the bridges and get a break from the sun.

Also boat up restaurants in the area:
Lees Landing - Biker/Boater bar. Interesting crowd at times, food isn’t great, but can be fun and is right above the port deposit ramp.
Tidewater - haven’t been, yet, but right in Havre De Grace.
Cheasapeake Inn and Shaffers - this is a 1 hr 30 min boat ride (definitely need full tank of gas), worth doing some day, but not on your first day out.

great information.. thanks for taking the time to send it! We were in tidewater's parking lot once! lol Just looking around at the area and confirming that we want in that water! haha

You can launch out of havre de grace as well, depending on where you are coming from. There is a new ramp with decent parking. Same $10 fee
