My new to me 15 242 limited S has an oil leak. After many tries to figure this out I think I have it narrowed down the bolts under the oil pump or the oil pump itself. Has anyone heard of this leaking? My searches come up empty. Many topics on the oil cooler but that’s definitely not it. Thanks in advance!

Sorry Mate I don't have any experience with an oil leak there. Just a few things to note many of which you probably have done but here goes.

1. No way that its coming from the oil filter itself?
2. Have you placed a clean cloth underneath to catch the leak and then traced it back to the source.
3. Got any video of it dripping?
4. Are you losing a lot of oil...is it all over the engine floor or just light drops that collect.
5. Have you put a wrench/socket to any of the hardware on the oil pump.
6. Absolutely sure its not dripping down the side of the engine from the head?

Hi and Thx for the reply! I'm sure its not coming from the oil filter or cooler. yes, it took me alot of clean and checks but I have it narrowed to the oil pump bolts or gasket. I'm gonna check all bolts this weekend. It leaks to the point that it soaks a paper toilet on the hull. Thank you for any help!

you have a paper toilet in your hull? LOL. Just kidding. Whenever I've dealt with a tough oil leak, I've used dye to trace it. Just google it. On the other hand, given you have some guesses, I'd go with the cheap guess first which is tightening the bolts and then the gasket. Seems pretty straightforward.

X2 on oil dye and UV light to find leak if not obvious leaking out when engine driving pump

If you are sure it's the front I think you have same 1.8 NA.
It has an o ring which could of gone bad versus gasket

Here's is the engine schematic for front cover where oil would be coming from as you described.

Hope this helps narrow down

There are 4 o rings on 2 short sleeve/pipes and a large gasket as well. You could remove bolts in the leak area one at a time for a thread inspection.....look for galled/stripped threads......metal particle in threads. Remove/inspect....photograph clean reinstall retorque. Repete on next bolt and you can see any changes in bolts/debris. Plus the retorque tell you if any stripping is a problem. Vibration a bear on bolts in aluminum.
