The RXP is a good deal IF they have performed all the necessary maintenance on it. That engine is efficient, but if you don't use premium fuel, the knock sensor will limit your RPms to 7800, and you will not get the most out of it. Top speed on them is about 68-69mph when using premium fuel. In my opinion, unless its a steal, just get either an FXHO, or VXR that have similar tech and get to about the same MPHs, but no premium fuel and no supercharger. You will be happier. Now if you are going to mod it, or just like adrenaline and speed, get the RXP.

On the ski, look in the engine bay, get a flashlight and look right under the supercharger. Make sure there is no black line running across the shaft. Then shake the driveshaft where the small boot is. If you can move it over 1/4" the carbon seal will need to get services. Also look at the boot. Make sure it is flexible, and not cut or gashed.

Start the ski, make sure the reverse gate operates properly. These skis from that year are known to have spotty IBR issues.

Check around the exhaust and make sure there is no rust. These engines are self contained, but the exhaust still uses raw water for cooling. If it has rust, walk away.

Also, check the coil packs, and make sure they are seated properly. If they are not, it could be a sign that the ski has ingested water, and they have had to pop the spark plugs to clear it out.

Lastly, look at the impeller and wear ring. Make sure the impeller isnt gouged, and the wear ring is in good shape. Its normal to have some scratches, but it should be in one piece.

Good luck with your purchase!!!

Scarabmike anything on the seadoo?I found 2012 rxp reasonable priced .I can't find any vx Yamahas in same price range around here. Is the fuel that much different anything else between the 2 good or bad .I won't be riding a lot so fuel may not be that much of a concern depending on how much difference between the 2 .thanks for any info
