242 LSE Bimini Top Fabric Replacement

The factory fabric on our 2013 just didn't hold up to the sun and weather; when ours went we bit the bullet and paid to have a Sunbrella replacement made. Huge difference in durability. I'm not sure if you are facing the same situation, but from the picture I would have to say it is the same...

Where/how did you mount your fire extinguisher?

I mounted one to the star board seat bottom of the battery compartment. There was already a sticker that said there was an extinguisher there, so why not.

    SOLD 240/242 Paper Service Manuals

I no longer have my 2013 242LS; I have the paper service manuals I purchased and now don't need. For the cost of a standard PO mailer ( $15.00), I will give them to a good home. Please contact me if interested. First come, first served.

    Goodyear Endurance trailer tires

For trailer tires, I generally will go to the highest pressure printed on the tire for the max load. At that pressure you get the least sidewall flex; sidewall flex creates heat and dramatically hastens tire failure.

    Dog Life Jacket - Recommendations

We have a 16 week old standard; she is growing like a weed. We bought this one : Amazon.com : Outward Hound Dawson Dog Life Jacket, Small, Red : Pet Supplies We got the Small one and it still fits, but I'm not sure how long.

    Building a dock, need help

We use 2 - 8' long versions of these for our tie outs to keep the boat away from the dock. I drive them in with a long galvanized pipe walking in circles to about 6' deep, and cover them with pvc pipe. If its' not too mucky for you to walk, these are bulletproof. They use them to help support...

One picture of your last outing.

How old is she? Our Rosie is a standard poodle and only 14 weeks old; we're a little worried she won't like the boat!

    Lake is thawed!

We put ours in last week; the snow was gone by the weekend and we actually went for a ride Sunday! Come on summer!

Possible HydroLock on Sea Doo Islandia.

In this forum when people are talking about hydro locked engines they are referring to cylinders full of an in-compressible fluid, water. It does not sound like that is your issue, so is your engine with no visible pisser overheating? If not, it probably means the pisser assembly somewhere...

Sorry man! I wasn't tagging you, I was making a Country Joe and the Fish joke! Old Vietnam song sung famously at Woodstock. I'm old!

Jet Boats in Salt Water are a Mistake

The swim platforms on the jet boats are awesome; but the resale value of an outboard boat vs a jet or an I/O slipped in a salt water environment seems very different. The outboard powered bow riders offer a comfortable stern lounging area (not as nice as a jet!) that helped us change to our...

    Engine fogging/winterization

The main purpose for fogging is to prevent/slow down corrosion. When the engine sits unused for any appreciable time the oil in it drains to the sump, leaving unprotected metal surfaces. The fogging oil is formulated to stick to those surfaces and protect them.

Clean Out Plugs In or Out When Not in Use in the Water?

We wet slipped for the whole summer; I left the plugs in from the end of June until the end of September for 7 years. I lubed them with silicone grease every spring, and never pulled them except when we pulled the boat out to go somewhere or for the season. They never stuck, but I think I might...

Jet Boat...would you do it again?

Not from a former Scarab owner, but if the only use was in deeper water than my fresh water dock, a jet boat would be the only choice. The fun factor can't be matched by an I/O or an OB. With my shallow lake front, our new OB is a better choice, and I think more ocean friendly with the combined...

4 came installed on our new boat; they are awesome! I had no idea they were that pricey though!

What negative comments have prop boaters made about your jet boat

In our boat ownership journey, we've had a Merc 90 outboard, a Merc 250 I/O, a Volvo 280 Duo I/O and a Volvo 260 I/ O, all before the 242 LS. The 242 was easily the most fun to drive, and we still miss it. But, compared to our new Cobalt, the lighter hull made rough water handling less fun...

Stoltz Bow Roller doesn't live up to the hype

The roller that came with the ShoreLandr trailer for our '13 LS was made with yellow polyurethane, the same material used by Stoltz. I never felt compelled to change it; Stoltz rollers we put on trailers for past boats scuffed as much/little as the OEM on the ShoreLandr.

    Done with Yamaha.

I understand. We had a '13 LS and I was always worried about the 1.8 timing chain issue, and the factory canvas was junk. We loved the boat, and maintenance was a breeze, but traded for an outboard powered boat. The shallow water at our dock and the possibility for extended salt water wet...
