    Lake Havasu

Thanks for the pictures; we get to Havasu every few years to visit some friends that moved from here, and they always get us out on the lake/river. It's a little different than New England. Such an amazing place!

I'm jealous; I love being on that lake. The river is endlessly beautiful. Enjoy!

    Winterization debates

I believe the engines are self draining; the waterboxes are not but maybe a shop vac with a skinny hose into the exhaust outlet would work? Has anyone tried?

    Winterization debates

Rings, cylinder liners, valves, guides and springs are all steel; they will rust. Un-coated bare aluminum will oxidize. I have been using fogging oil for many years, first through carburators and then through intakes; no issues yet and I like the peace of mind. Of course, I live with a long...

    Shaking tower-help with solution

It might be worth trying multiple thin layers of stainless steel or aluminum sheet, each flexible enough to bend on its' own, similar to a leaf spring. Build up to desired backing plate thickness. Edit: I think you were asking about the outside on the hull, not the inside. Shaping a polymer...

head compartment in the 24' yamahas

I bought a Dometic 5 gallon; we dump it in the house toilet. The waste tank separates from the seat/flush water section, so we just carry the waste tank.

head compartment in the 24' yamahas

Wouldn't have a boat without it. I'm 5'7", 145 lbs, I fit. I also sit, though. No standing in there, and no way I'm kneeling. Hmmm, have I said too much????

Have you had a 1.8 timing chain failure, was it in warranty and how has Yamaha handled it?

Thanks for the info @haknslash! I probably have too many hours to get the same kind of mercy from Yamaha, but with luck I won't need it. Thanks again.

Have you had a 1.8 timing chain failure, was it in warranty and how has Yamaha handled it?

How did Yamaha end up helping him? Did his dealer/repair shop go to Yamaha, or did @Harshhobglin contact them, and who? I think this is great info for the rest of us; it might be our boat next!

    boat cover

I'm definitely not a fan of the SureLast material that Yamaha used for the bow/cockpit covers on my 2013; it is disintegrating! New Sunbrella replacement will be made this fall, to match the new bimini and camper canvas!

1st day out and boat is broken

There is a 90 degree fitting near the bottom of the tank, accessible from the seat behind the driver's. If you pull the hose from the barb, you can unscrew the fitting to drain most of the water. I ended up installing some quick connects.

So What about the Bonehead Move Badges

Haven't seen this one: forgot to latch trailer onto ball, didn't notice until on the gravel ramp with the trailer tongue in the dirt with the boat on!

Is blowing the water out of the water boxes a cause for broken timing chains?

Wow, thanks again for all the replies and info. Just proves that the wealth of information here is enormous!:)

Is blowing the water out of the water boxes a cause for broken timing chains?

Thanks for the replies, I will definitely tell my bud that I was wrong, and forward your answers. I am encouraging him strongly to join this forum; between this forum and the other the knowledge base is phenomenal!

Is blowing the water out of the water boxes a cause for broken timing chains?

I thought I read a few threads on broken timing chains being related to blowing out the water boxes with a quick blast of the throttle when on the trailer with the hose off. I told my buddy that he should stop doing it, and to research on both forums, but now I can't find the threads. Did I give...

If you use an anchor don't use this clamp

The spring in many of these hooks/carabiners is the weak point; they can and will corrode and fail long before the structural steel or aluminum that gives the holding device strength. An anchor shackle or stainless steel quick link can help avoid this kind of anchor loss, IMHO.

    Outdoor Speakers (for the home)

I got 2 sets of the Yamaha speakers; 1 set that is maybe 10 years old and the other is 3, powered by a line level fed Pioneer receiver from my house Yamaha receiver. Hey, notice a theme here? They sound good to my old man ears!

    Insurance thread

I have filed 2 prop strike claims and 2 fiberglass damage claims with them over the past 25+ years; in all cases they were fast and very fair. I won't go anywhere else.
