Rockville Amp Installation - Noob Questions

Check your amp manual, you might need to bridge across channels 5/6 or 7/8 sideways instead of vertical. Also check your filters to make sure the channels are set to LPF to pass the low freq signals. Your stock speakers should be set to HPF to cut the low freqs.

Boats on order - staying with your plan?

I generally don't comment on this as the hysterical is causing backlash upon those who can rationalize the stats. The media and government are making it into a hysterical mess. Do your own research and you'll find the seasonal flu kills 10x as many every winter. It's all hype...just follow the...

    Stereo Wattage - 195s

Forgot to mention that I just bought a 4ch JL Audio amp to drive the stock speakers. We won't be putting towers up so a 4ch amp will be plenty for us on the boat. WetSounds are not easy to find in Canada nor for reasonable prices, so I went with JL instead.

Boats on order - staying with your plan?

Nope not kidding...my wife is a nurse - and I work in an essential service - it's all hysterical hype. As long my boat arrives on time, we expect to be boating the first weekend of May like normal.

    Stereo Wattage - 195s

No amp - it drives off the head unit alone at about 10-15w. The speakers are good, so I suggest getting a good 4ch amp for the stock speakers, and a second 4ch amp to bridge the towers. Or a 6ch amp depending on your needs.

Boats on order - staying with your plan?

Our plans are unchanged - this COVID hysteria is just another seasonal cold so we don't care what's going on with it. As long as it doesn't affect our boating season, it's a non-issue for us. Already bought a JL Audio amp and new black fenders for the new boat. ???

Who has cut the Cable TV cord...what are you using now?

We cut the cord 15 years ago. For us it was less of a cost savings issue and more of getting rid of crappy programming full of commercials. So went to Netflix and Youtube, and threw in other online sources into the mix and we had more than enough to watch. Years ago Prime Video came along and...

Dish soap softens lacquer paint, but clear coat is ok. As stated car and boat wash does not strip wax.

Yup I hear ya...years ago we enjoyed winter (skiing, etc.) but once we started boating some 10 years ago, winter can't end fast enough. :winkingthumbsup"

2019 AR 195. Cranks but will not start.

I agree...if it's water, there's a SERIOUS issue with the engine. A booster pack, like the Noco Genious packs are a good idea too, they crank over engines with a lot more reciprocal mass than these small marine engines. If the engine doesn't start with a 500+A booster, you have an issue.

2019 AR 195. Cranks but will not start.

That's normal...cranking is the heaviest voltage drain on the battery. I doubt surface voltage is an issue - if the starter cranks over strongly, there's lots of voltage (and amperage) to light up the plugs. If the engine doesn't fire up, there's an issue. I would be very concerned with "water"...

Connext on with start battery off?

Right, I hadn't thought of that, dealer mistakes...

Connext on with start battery off?

This sounds about right...sounds like Yamaha has some sloppy or new employees. These types of things are what I'll be poking at before the 10 hour service.

2019 AR 195. Cranks but will not start.

That makes sense if the plugs were actually wet from water.

    Mounted my charger today, question

As they said, tape up the whole area to stop cracking of the gelcoat, and take your time. First one is scary, after that, not so much. Check behind the fiberglass to make sure there's nothing like wires/cables to hit before you start, then get out the tape.
