Differences between the Newer 4 Cycle Yamaha Jet Boats

Like Jeff said, the last 2 digits are the model year, the next 2 digits to the left is letter and number conforming to date of manufacture where the letter corresponds to a month A=Jan B= Feb, etc. and the number is the year 4 for 2014 5 for 2015 so you know down to which month the boat was built.

    2019 212 Limited S Oil & Air Filters

Please define "frequently" - if it's more often than required, then you're just wasting money. The oil, filter and engines themselves are designed to work with the specified equipment and should be changed per schedule. Unless there's an issue, like severe age and wear, there's no reason to dump...

    2019 212 Limited S Oil & Air Filters

For our vehicles and our boat, we always use factory oil and filters, they only cost a couple bucks more and spending 4-6 bucks a year is good coverage for any warranty claims down the road. Engine air and cabin filters are another story - we buy and replace our own air filters at local...

Drilling holes for the wiring is a nice touch - keeps it very neat and clean looking.

Solar Panel Charging - Will this thing work and which battery do I connect it to?

Solar panels are simple devices and typically only contain the panels wired to a diode to prevent back current drain (when it's dark out they can draw from your battery - the diode prevents that) and then output DC voltage directly. Often the voltage they generate is 16-24v or higher depending...

Solar Panel Charging - Will this thing work and which battery do I connect it to?

I concur with the above comments - most solar charging systems are intended for maintaining, not recharging. I use solar panels and charge controllers for winter maintaining of my boat batteries. But I would never use them to ensure my bilge pump is working in a slip. If you develop a leak, you...

    Battery Question

Just went through the AR195 service manual and based on the size of the stator magnet and coils, and the huge rectifier which is water cooled, I'd say 28 amps could be about right. Note that while it's a separate stator and rectifier, an alternator is the same thing but with both the...

Wow, those driver surrounds are still there - must have been right around the time they changed from foam to rubber.

Yamaha Service Manual eBooks are Online

Just download the 2019 AR195 manual (that's what I have for now), it's the same except for the added features like the 7" Connext, etc. Same hull, same engine, same operation.

Wow. 195S seems to be a homerun for Yamaha based on comments

Dang. After googling info on these units, we've decided not to add a grill - if you forget to empty the drip tray, you get lots of grease all over the place (we get lots of cruisers go by so it's a heavy wake zone sometimes). We also don't want to dump grease into our boating waters, and we have...

    Yamaha 212x Stereo

The stock sub is actually quite good from what I've read - the issue is power to drive it. The stock amp is an HTX-6 and they're probably just under-powering the sub. As mentioned, adding an amp for the sub will get it thumping.

    Old stereos

Forgot to mention that the Infinity fan coolers are awesome - keeps the stereo nice and cool inside the stand. Bought a similar unit to put in my network case to keep everything in there nice and cool as well.

    Old stereos

Can't remember the model number, but my dad had a Marantz like yours. It was a beast and I've bought nothing but Marantz myself. It's not quite legacy, but it's older:

Wow. 195S seems to be a homerun for Yamaha based on comments

Yup we would want the second leg to let the grill cool. Stop taking our ideas! The wife mentioned that too. ?

Wow. 195S seems to be a homerun for Yamaha based on comments

We were thinking about doing that as well. Where did you put the bracket, and did you reinforce the fiberglass with an aluminum bracket or similar, or not needed? Did you do the free Navionics update online to get detailed maps for your area?

    Battery Question

A multimeter is usually low current limits like an few amps. If the charging system can push 10+ amps you'll probably just pop the fuse, but you might pop more than that. And you won't get anything but a max reading. What you need is an ammeter rated to something typical like 100-200A to be sure...
