Flushing Engines - Access Plugs in or out?

It probably does not matter, but I flush plug out (laying loose in the tube). 2 reasons: (1) I have already pulled the plug to release any retained water, rinsed with Salt Off (plug, tube, shaft and grate) and then rinsed with fresh water and (2) prevents forgetting to dismount plug for storage.

Which Salt Remover product do you use?

Salt Off - both of them.

    House Battery Issue

Wow - bizarre. I have never removed or externally charged my Start and House batteries, but I do plan to replace them this fall at 4 years. Well, my boat may not be new anymore, but I have analog gauges (no Connext), flip up jump seats and my battery switches cut everything off.

    House Battery Issue

I do not doubt you, but how do you prevent the auto sensing bilge pump from draining your battery(ies) over a period of several weeks with the boat on a trailer or in a rack? Do you have to physically disconnect the battery cables or some how disable the bilge pump? I could be wrong, but I...

Wet Slip in Salt Water for a week - Long Beach CA

The down side to an EPIRB is that it just an emergency message - first responders (USCG, Police, EMS) are coming without any additional information about your status. They obviously presume the worst. The Garmin InReach allows you to communicate 2-way with any cellphone and the Garmin...

Wet Slip in Salt Water for a week - Long Beach CA

OP could launch enough before the ferry (both ways) to be past the half-way point when it comes by on the route. Another option would be to buy a Garmin InReach product. They start at about $300, and you have global range to any cellphone or Garmin's monitoring center. Monthly service plan is...

    House Battery Issue

Are you sure? The auto sensing bilge pump, without a way to disconnect it from power, would slowly drain the battery(ies) while the boat sits on the trailer or rack. I know, for sure, that my factory auto sensing bilge pump is disconnected from power by the battery switches. In fact, mine...

    House Battery Issue

Unless something is wired directly to the battery (as in you should see a wire going to the battery terminal, but not through the battery switch), both switches in the off position should prevent anything from receiving power. The common exception is a bilge pump with a float switch connected...

    Upgrade Existing Steering System??

I am sure that an upgrade will be a small but noticeable improvement, whichever way you go. Obviously, I have TV and LTs, and I have been very pleased with combination. On Friday, I had to hold in my marina's basin while another boat was picked up by the forklift. I amused myself by doing...

    another Bilge pump question

My 2017 boat has a bilge pump that requires: the battery be switched on and the bilge pump be on. I keep my boat in a rack via forklifts. I have had no problems with leaving everything off and the transom plugs out while in the rack. To the best on my knowledge, my bilge pump has expelled...

Yamaha Boats are Self Bailing - If you get water in the boat do not panic

We too have been pleasantly surprised how well 5G works off shore. We were about 5 miles out on an artificial reef, and we had 3 bars of 5G with T-Mobile. Of course, it helps that they have a tower on Tybee Island.

Yamaha Boats are Self Bailing - If you get water in the boat do not panic

One other thing about the Garmin InReach, you can take it anywhere (hiking, back country off roading, river rafting, to other countries and etc.). Since most models are also a GPS with full display, they are handy - so to speak.

Yamaha Boats are Self Bailing - If you get water in the boat do not panic

As to communications, I would suggest what I do: handheld VHF radio (range up to 8 miles) and a handheld Garmin InReach Satellite Communicator/extra GPS (range worldwide). With the Garmin InReach, you can text back and forth with any cellphone (family, friends, tow service) and use the SOS...

Should i extend YES warranty for 2 years for $1450

My boat came with a free 3 year Yamaha warranty extension (bought at the end the season in 2017). It will expire in SEP 2021, and Yamaha offered me a 1 year add-on for just over $1K. Unless something changes, I will not extend. The price seemed high for just a year. I have had no mechanical...

195fsh sport - starboard self drain port not draining at all, Bilge pump doesn't seem to be working correctly

You can flush your deck drains by using a hose and a rag. With the water flowing, form a gasket around the hose at the drain intake to use pressure to flush it clean. If this does not work, you will need to check for a kinked hose.

    190 FSH Trolling Motor mount

I have a 60 inch motor shaft on my Terrova 80lbs. of thrust 24V motor. I am not saying a 54 inch will not work; it might.

This thread is likely pointless; the website shows the OP has not visited since posting his first and only post.

Yamaha 24ft jetboat vs Robalo 24ft to Bimini Island

The only way I could see choosing the Yamaha over the Robalo would be to compare a 25 foot FSH with its twin engines to a 24 Robalo with one engine. The prices would be closer (Robalo still higher), and at least you would have something to weigh (slightly bigger twin versus marginally smaller...
