    My 2016 Yamaha 242X thread....(MORE photos added 6/14/19)

I'm between the 7inch and 9inch just because of the space we have at the helm. Julian, do you loosen and move the garmin often or do you find you don't use the yamaha screen as much? I might go with the 9" because of this thread

    2021 AR190 Underpowered

That is TOO many people for that boat. I know what the sticker says (8 person). My boat says 12 person but I would not plan a water sports day with that many. I take that number to mean the number of people you can boat with without sinking. If you want water sports with that many people you...

OEM depth gauge issues (2016 242x)

Looking to getting a chart plotter, I haven't selected one, but from the available helm space, I'm thinking ~7 inch screen. I'd like to get as large of a screen as possible, if anyone else installed something larger I would love to see pics. Anyway, the OEM depth gauge hasn't worked over the...

    First Gelcoat Repair (Picture heavy)

looks really good. How pissed were you that you gouged your boat? I can only imagine.... But you learned how to repair small gelcoat defects and got it done, good job.

    trailer tires

I agree about cheap tired, that's why I'm looking at the Goodyear's. I don't mind the expense but I'd like to get closer to 8 years out of them considering I might do 5,000 miles in that stretch.

    trailer tires

OUCH, so with the goodyears you are paying ~600 mounted and balanced every 3 years? Can I get an 8 year car tired on the trailer instead or are they not rated for the load?

    trailer tires

dumb question, how long do tires last lol? Not in terms of tread life, because I don't do enough miles to wear down a tire, but from weather/dry rot? 8 years?

    Almost sunk my boat

I'll probably install the SS scupper during opening next spring. Others here have it installed and no issues. If I have to replace it every 5 years (just to be safe) than so be it. I agree with Julian, I like the hunk of metal vs the plastic scupper. The weight is quite noticeable its pretty...

    Almost sunk my boat

well, I had a new plastic scupper installed last year. Here is my old scupper next to the SS version I was planning on installing. Here is where it broke while installed on the boat. From the outside of the boat during an inspection you couldn't see the crack, not sure if you can from the...

    Almost sunk my boat

I have the same boat as Jullian in post #64. I think the scupper port is AT the waterline, maybe slightly below? The standard mentioned by SBrown might be why our boats have plastic scuppers. With that being said, they could have used one of the other materials he listed as acceptable. The...

    Almost sunk my boat

Our boats have a plastic scupper (OEM) or Attwood makes the stainless steel version. I have the stainless steel one right here in front of me, I was going to replace the plastic scupper next season. Should I leave the plastic one and return the stainless steel scupper?

    Trailer Maintenance

glad I greased the bearings! I had to pump the grease gun quite a few times before any grease seeped out. I did get marine grease. I have to look for the grease ports behind the fenders, still didn't hit those

    Almost sunk my boat

if it took a long time to get the level of water you are describing the water must be entering at a fairly slow clip? Anyway, I asked folks on this site previously how long it would take me to change a scupper in my driveway, a few hours was the response, so not a terrible job. As far as...

    Almost sunk my boat

I don't have the broken scupper in my possession or I would take a pic to show you but I just had a similar issue where my scupper cracked and I flooded my engine compartment. one thing that might be different with your situation, did you just drop the boat off the trailer and notice the issue...

    Port engine not turning over

since one motor starts, this wouldn't seem to be the issue, but the click click click is how a car starter would sound when not getting enough voltage from the battery. I assume two starters and two sets of cables between the batteries and starters? All connections look solid/clean? Maybe bad...
