Moving boat around with lawn tractor

The OP asked about a "Lawn" Tractor. A "Garden" Tractor is a different animal even thought they may look similar. By definition, a "Garden" tractor is needed when "ground engaging" equipment is used (like that cultivator you built ;) ) Most ground engaging equipment uses a 3 point hitch so...

    Bed Cover Recommendations

Same here. The other brands that flip/fold up (like BakFlip) do offer full bed access but it blocks the rear window when folded. I didn't like that. There are several "roll up" brands but the Roll-N-Lock has the smallest canister and takes of the least amount of bed space of all the roll ups...

2006 AR 230 should we buy?

@plasticpig Ditto what @Bruce said. Welcome and good spotting on the BlackTip  No Wake mode is something Yamaha added to the 4-stroke engines. 2-strokes didn't have it. But that's different from HO and non-HO. In the first few years of the migration from 2-stroke to 4-stoke...

Moving boat around with lawn tractor

I've seen comments about tongue weight and brakes, which are valid concerns but possibly manageable in limited circumstances. HOWEVER.... I believe the bigger show-stopper is the TRANSMISSION. Most lawn tractors have 1 of two types. Either a V-belt/idler-pulley system which relies on...

2006 AR 230 should we buy?

Ha ha. The only reason its not 100% is that was 11 years ago so my memory may be a little off. :( But I can tell you that I was shopping for a new AR230 in 2006. Only choices for the AR230 that year was Black or Red, HO and non-HO respectively. Thought I wanted HO, but also wanted Red. I...

2006 AR 230 should we buy?

For the MR-1 series engines, I believe the only difference in the air filter covers is the stick-on decal - otherwise they are the same cover. I wouldn't be counting those unhatched chickens just yet  I'm 99.44% certain there is no such thing as a 2006 RED AR230 HO as built at the...

2006 AR 230 should we buy?

In jet drive. Look at the intake grate underneath the boat. Inspect the jet nozzle, cables, and bucket. Pull the cleanout plugs and put the throttle forward to get a look/feel at the front and back of the impeller. Check the condition of the anodes. Also open the engine compartment and...

2006 AR 230 should we buy?

The seller is in TN but the boat is from FL. I would be more concerned about possible salt damage than the 280/320 engine difference. I don't see any obvious salt damage in the pics, but that's what I'd be looking closely for when inspecting it personally.

2006 AR 230 should we buy?

I think the ad is wrong. I believe that boat has twin 140HP engines. If I remember correctly, in 2006 there were only two colors of AR230, red and black. The black had 160HP HO engines and the red had 140HP engines. The 110HP engines were exclusive to the 210 series boats, not the 230...

Having your rear LED speaker rings turn off when Navigation lights are turned on. (avoid police)

Pretty cleaver, but dang your water police must be super anal to stop you for having LED Speaker rings on while under way.

Playing with my Polk DB651s set up - 2 ohm vs 4 ohm question

You definitely want to keep the RCA (input signal) wires as short as possible because longer wires pick up more noise and if the long wires are on the input side of the amplifier than you amplify the noise too.

Playing with my Polk DB651s set up - 2 ohm vs 4 ohm question

That statement is true of ALL speakers. No "4-ohm" speaker is fixed at 4 ohms. Impedance changes with frequency. Speakers are labeled with "nominal" impedance which is an approximate average resistance over the frequency range of the speaker. Any speaker's resistance in ohms is lower at...
