    2015 vs 2016 Vortex. Differences ?

The shaft guard is a nice feature, but the clean out port is much more than a "nice show room feature". I would say that in the 10 years of owning a Yamaha boat with the cleanout ports, almost every time I've used the cleanout port was to remove something lodged or stuck in the impeller - not...

    Tire Pressure

Seriously, dude, how many screens are on that bird you fly every week? I would think just two screens on the dash of the bus would seem sparse to you. :p

Well I'm an empty-nester, but it still looks cool to me! :D I didn't know that was up at Texoma. I'll be checking it out next time. Thanks for passing along the info :winkingthumbsup"

    Tire Pressure

Its because the "proper" pressure depends on the vehicle, not the tire. The tire makers tell you the MAX (cold) pressure because that same tire may end up on different vehicles. The vehicle makers tell you the correct pressure for the vehicle. Its in the owner manual of the vehicle, not the...

Battery question for Yamaha 212x or any boat actually

I have 5 batteries installed, but I still pack a portable jump-pack whenever I go out. Cheap peace of mind and also a much easier way to help other stranded boaters without messing with long jumper cables

    Surprise bunk board replacement

Varying opinions? Who would be *against* pressure treated wood where the function is being dunked in water on a regular basis?

    Tire Pressure

Underinflated tires run hotter than properly inflated tires. It makes no sense to lower the pressure due to heat. Thats about the same logic as driving faster to get to the gas station before you run out of fuel. The MAX COLD rating on tires is not the absolute maximum pressure the tire can...

    Parallel Battery Bank Question....

Voltage pushes the current through a resistance. Current does not push it is drawn (or drained) In other words, you could have a 10,000 amp battery bank and as long as its still 12 volts, your starters are going to draw the same amont of current as they normally do. Higher current capacity...

    Weekend Trip Questions (Trailering/Slip/Bilge Pump)

I've towed from Dallas to Broken Bow every year for the last three years and leave the cover at home. I'm taking the boat to Austin (about 3 hours from Dallas) for a week in August and I'll tow it with the cover off. But I'll bring the cover with me to use when the boat is parked in the hotel...

On water. Blown fuse. Need help!

Oddly, I believe the starter motors are wired through this 20a fuse. The ECU itself doesn't need anywhere close to 20a. The starters pull around 16a last I checked and the ECU might use 2a (guessing). The cables from the battery go to the ECU box and then on to the starter. The starter relay...

    Lake Lewisville boat ramp.

The 'official' word is that lewisville is closed EXCEPT for boats that are already on the water (in marinas or boathouses). I thought (but not sure) Eagle Mtn was the same way. Thus you may see boats out on the open water but not certain they are allowing launches at the boat ramps. Lake Ray...

    Dual battery connection

I agree with @Bill D  Also I would NOT put all three switches ON. Your dealer is wrong. It should only be START and HOUSE normally. The "Emerg Parallel" switch is only needed if one of the batteries goes dead and you need to use the remaining good battery to get back to safety.

    Why do plugs blow out?

Do you at least pull them after each outing to drain the water on top and then put them back in? If they are dry, I think storing them in or out of the tubes is fine either way. I believe the biggest problem is when they get standing water on top and left to sit that way. If they are pulled...

    Why do plugs blow out?

I've had that happen too. Do you not have the little "safety" cords attached to the plugs? I was able to pull the upside-down plug back up with the cord. It was still much harder than one would think, but I was able to get it out without crawling under the boat.
