Adding bass- IB vs Boxed subs?

@JBehrens- That 12" IB sub from JL looks like a jackhammer and with the fiberglass being so thin I think it would take a lot of work to brace it properly to get the best performance. The HO ported box design with a 10W6 seems like it would fit the bill nicely if I can fit it where I want it.

    2019 190 Subwoofer

I like this idea! How did you run RCA cables over there?

Adding bass- IB vs Boxed subs?

@Jgorm, did you install the MX series that are less expensive or the M series that is like 700$+? @Mainah, That seems easy enough to understand, thank you. I was cruising JL's website and saw something that may fit the bill pretty well, its a 10W6V3 in a ported HO box that measures 14"H-...

Adding bass- IB vs Boxed subs?

Hey everybody, I am kind of in a pickle about what I want to do to add some bass to my AR195. I have mounted a pair of WS Rev 10's on the tower and added a small amplified to power the 4 Polk DBs the boat came with. The boat sounds amazing as far as being loud and audible but it overpowers the...

    Tower speaker covers

I have the Wetsuitz covers for my rev10's. They are worth it, fit is perfect, carry handles are super nice.

How are you setting amplifier voltage?

Where do you have your sub mounted at @JBehrens ?

How are you setting amplifier voltage?

I am looking at the JL IB subs and see you're running the MX IB sub I wonder if a pair of the the M series 10's are the way to go or bite the bullet and get the 12"

    2019 AR240 Audio Upgrade Planning

You may look into a different amp if that is your goal, the 8" speakers would be way underpowered by that amp as they are 150W RMS a peice and you'd have an amp that would only give them about 75 watts max bridged. Even with that amp and the 6.5" speakers they are still going to be a bit...

Second Round - 2015 AR240 JL Audio Stereo Upgrades

I put a set of WS Rev 10 towers on my boat and was not impressed at all with the bass they produce. Don't get me wrong I love how they project sound perfectly for a VERY long distance which is what they are designed for. I will be adding a sub in the future.

    Boat Value's Increasing

Personally I think this is all the newer Yamaha jets.. I started looking for an AR195 last July and didn't find any priced well enough that it would convince me to buy a used over a new boat

Electrical Connection Help.....Surely I'm doing something wrong.

For amp connections that just have holes to insert the wire and are held in place with a set screw I have recently discovered wire ferrules which are a billion times better than just jamming a wire in the hole and screwing it in tight. But for battery connections I still use crimp terminals and...

Electrical Connection Help.....Surely I'm doing something wrong.

It almost looks like your butt connector (yellow) is too big, but if youre using 12 guage wire than its the correct size. I use butt connectors with either a continuous section of heatshrink or 2 that I can overlap and shrink one at a time. have used heat guns and lighters to shrink it but now I...

    Subwoofer (Rookie here)

I believe this amp is legit, I saw a youtube vid of it doing over 2700w on a certified dyno run @1ohm.

    Subwoofer (Rookie here)

To use the sub at its full potential you are going to probably want a single channel (mono) amp that is one ohm stable and that it going to be expensive, otherwise you will end up having to wire the voice coils in series.

    Subwoofer (Rookie here)

You will definitely want a different amp for that sub, I don't know what speakers you run but with a peak draw of 2400W from that sub I would think you are going to be taxing that amp without any other speakers connected

Thinking about installing amp in engine compartment - any issues?

Heat and potential dampness in the engine bay would make it a no for me. I installed my amp, 3 batteries, and battery charger in the bay under the rear seat on the drivers side.

    What the heck is Starboard?!?!?!

Yes, Lowes and Home Depot call it PVC board. I have been using that stuff for years to build battery racks in my boats, holds up pretty well and doesn't rot. On my aluminum fishing boats I have always used a 4X8" sheet of starboard and a proprietary glue that bonds the board to aluminum so that...

    Question on amp wattage

I also have a 2019 AR195, I installed a pair of tower speakers and through doing so I believe I read that the Clarion headunit that comes in these boats only puts out 14w RMS? Seems like it would be a pretty big lack of power for the 4 Polk DB's? I also realize I think I need a subwoofer as...
