Madison, WI - New to JB

There are a couple close lakes around the Wausau area. Never really towed south before. Our favorite spot is north to Lake Tomahawk. .... Big, deep lake, super clear water, and the tourist riff-raff stays over on the Minocqua side.

Welcome! Just 2 hours north of you here.....

2020 Ford Explorer towing a Yamaha

Tow rating probably has little to do with the motor, and more to do with the frame and trailer hitch. My 2018 F-150 has the max trailer tow package, high payload package, class IV receiver hitch, with the 3.5 Ecoboost ... so it's good for close to 13k lbs of towing. But if you read the fine...

does making mods void Yamaha warranty

^x2 ... what he said. By law, the warranty will be voided only if it can be proven that the modification is what caused the failure being claimed.

Still waiting for pickup and thinner (warmer) water!

Welcome ... Central WI here. Usually end up on Lake Wausau, Lake DuBay (local area). Our favorite is further north though - Lake Tomahawk.

First noobie question USB and Power

Agree with the battery switch. The stereo on my AR195 is completely powered down when the battery switch is off. After that, I'd take a peak in the storage area behind the the stereo. You might simply have a wire that came unplugged. The stock USB plug runs to the stereo so you can have a...

2019 AR195 Review by Jet Boat Pilot

That's a good question! But, the wet storage area now has large drain channels at each end of the storage area. My guess is they simply have you lay the hose in that channel, then close the hatch.

    Mooring Whips are the devil

Looks like you are missing some lines on the whips. I've used whips for years, and they work great. There are a total of 6 lines, with to connection points to the boat. - 1 line from each whip ... 1 line connected towards the bow, 1 line connected towards the stern - 1 line from the base of...

Before winter or in the spring ? And why?

I think it mostly has to do with the act of fogging the engine. The plugs get coated with oil when fogging, and have a higher chance of then fouling. I'm a 'change the oil in the spring' guy. And since I live in the tundra of Wisconsin like you, I don't fog the engine either. The boat is...

    Pump Sealing

I'm also curious. Mine is not sealed but I do not have any cavitation problems either.

    Wakeboard vs wakesurf

I’m in my early 40s and I still slalom ski. Just taught my boys to ski this summer. The older one wants to learn to wakeboard. I’d like to try surfing. But my god! Those wakesurf boats throw a wave across the lake like an oil tanker! Kind of a pain for those of us that ski. But the lake is open...

    Boat Name & Lettering Recommendations

I named my 19' (see sig below). I used a local auto trim place that matched the font layout and color to the stock graphics. It looks like it came from the factory. They did my reg numbers in the same way.

Has anyone ever done their own interior?

Not a great pic - but here's our old VIP when I got it all done.

Has anyone ever done their own interior?

I did our '89 VIP about 2 years ago. I did it over the winter months in our basement. Once you get the hang of a sewing machine, it isn't really that bad. If you don't mind completely destroying a sewing machine, your normal household one will do the job. That's what I used. But after it...

Maybe that means a surfable 19' from the factory .... AR195X?

Music total time while boat is off

I think the stock stereo in my AR195 has a low battery warning built in.

    AR195 HELP!!!

A test would be a good idea to confirm. But most likley, Yamaha just hasn't updated the owners manual to reflect the change in how the bilge operates.

    2018 AR 195 max speed 62 mph?

AR195 will not do 65 in stock form. Mine does a consistent 50-ish, depending on person load, wind and current conditions. My guess is @2kwik4u is right - key was left on while trailering and the paddle wheel spun that fast due to wind.

    Centering Steering Wheel

I checked mine using the method mentioned above. I clamped a 2x4 on the keel to make the jet nozzle straight. Then checked the wheel - it was perfectly lined up with the 12:00 position. Now, with that being said, it almost never points straight up when under power. A slight breeze or current...

The Brand New 2017 Yamaha AR195 and SX195

I don't have any tower speakers, but have been looking at sound bars specifically for the fear of knocking my head on speakers.
