Wow, @captras. We saw them again on Saturday about 1:30 PM.

    Lake Livingston, Texas

@captras you may not believe this... Yesterday (Jun 22, 2018) about 1:00 PM I was sitting inside my house and was on a conference call, when my wife motions for me to look out the window. Four (4) Apache helicopters flew over the neighborhood, over my house, and across the lake. They looked...

    Looking on taking the plunge

Being an amatuer mechanic, I've rebuilt many marine engines. I am now exclusively Yamaha for all my personal stuff (except for a Kawasaki 12F that my wife won't let me sell). I am officially a Yamaha 'fan boy'. Please, harass me! LOL -Greg

    2008 ar230 25hrs, couple speed/rpm questions

Can you make an aluminum bracket that screws into the boat, with the lights attached to the bracket? You can then use a much smaller hole to snake the wires above the water line. Might not be as pretty, but will keep you from drilling large holes in the boat. -Greg

    2008 ar230 25hrs, couple speed/rpm questions

I put some 3/8 closed cell foam tape in the drip groove around the entire engine compartment hatch. Took all of 10 minutes. I was skeptical it would do anything. First ride out, I was SHOCKED at how much quieter it was. You can actually hold a conversation in the cockpit at 7k RPM...

    Huge Power Loss

This is pretty much what I expected after seeing your very first photo the other day. The challenge you have now is there is no bearing for the washer/nut to hold when temporarily reassembling the pump to pull the shaft. (If you wanted to use the pry bar technique.) You can try your truck/strap...

    Huge Power Loss

So far I've not seen a reason to believe there is anything wrong with your intermediate housing or intermediate shaft. Is it leaking inside the boat? What you have is some rust in the splines that is preventing them from easily separating--that's not unusual. Bolt up the pump again to the wear...

    Huge Power Loss

The grease in the housing is separate. The splines are stuck inside the shaft. Once he gets them apart, you can put grease on the splines before reassembling. Take a look at the diagrams on partzilla.com. -Greg

    Huge Power Loss

Glad you decided to just enjoy your vacation. A few more questions if you have time, @AboveTheBest. Look back at the diagram, part #20 and #21. That is a washer and retaining nut on the end of the driveshaft inside the cone, and when tightened makes it impossible to pull the shaft through the...

    Huge Power Loss

Don't let it ruin your vacation or have your spouse mad at you for working on the boat all day... speaking from experience here. Be careful trying to beat it out... with the splines stuck, you'll end up pulling the intermediate shaft through the intermediate housing, separating the PTO...

    Huge Power Loss

You won't be able to just put it back in. The shaft is pressed into a bearings in the pump and there are also two seals on that side. The shaft is now stuck at the splines in the intermediate shaft. Pull the five bolts on the wear ring and try to pry it out... four (4) 14mm and one (1) 10mm...

    Huge Power Loss

He took off the correct bolts. The impeller seems stuck to the wear ring. It should have come out as a unit. He can now either try to pull the impeller w/driveshaft out of the wear ring, or unbolt the wear ring. But he will still need to separate the impeller from the wear ring. It appears the...

    Huge Power Loss

Impeller is torqued to the driveshaft. It should have all come out as a unit. Pull it out and take some pics. Possible the impeller is stuck and pulled out of the housing and bearings.

Air Filters - how often to replace?

I run my waverunners and my AR210 w/o air filters. I mean, really? What is going to get sucked up into the engine in a clean engine bay? I guess bugs could get stuck in the flame arrestors, but I've never had a problem. -Greg

FSH 190 Anchor locker hinge screws ripped out.

Mine were torn out as well, and I used a longer bolt with a washer/nut on the back. Use stainless if you can find them--try Home Depot. -Greg

    Huge Power Loss

I'll take a crack at this--looks like 2013 190 is pretty much the same as the others. Take a couple of pics so you remember how it goes back together. Obviously the boat should be on the trailer. From memory as I don't have a boat or waverunner in front of me: 1. The ends of the reverse bucket...

    Huge Power Loss

As @Julian says, it can be very small. My buddy caught a small 1" long piece of hardwood between his impeller and wear ring on a long waverunner ride a couple of weeks ago. No way it would come out--we had to pull off to a sandbar and pull the pump off.
