    2008 WaveRunner troubles

A bad rectifier just won't charge your battery. If you are seeing 14v at higher RPM, then it's not that. I'm not aware of any history of bad ECUs with the VXs, only with certain years of HO motors. Check: (a) Check fuel pressure either with a fuel pressure gauge or by swapping the sending...

    Dangerous Waters

Y'all make our Trinity River rides look like a evening cruise! We just did 1-day 200 mile ride on May 29, 2018. This is from an earlier ride: http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/showthread.php?t=254635 Most of us are running recently converted 4-stroke Yamaha SUVs (originally produced from 1999 to...

At what point an impeller duct needs replacement

Send those props off to Impros to fix and keep as spares. I don't think there's anything wrong with your wear rings. -Greg

    Dangerous Waters

This is a guy that has run the Mississippi River for 2000 miles by himself on a Spark. Pretty courageous doing it by yourself. http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/showthread.php?t=255135 http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/showthread.php?t=266092 -Greg

    2012 AR190. Possible buy

Agreed on a battery switch. Some electronics can pull power even when off, and a switch and float charger ensures the battery will be fully charged the next time you need it. I installed this one on my 2008 AR210: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IQRMGFA/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage...

    MR1 Carnage

Just pulled this motor apart I got as part of a trade deal. No compression on #2. Ha. This is what happens to the MR1 when you break a rod at high RPM. If you look closely, you'll see broken rods, rings, part of the crank case, valves, and a nicely hammered piston turd. What's amazing is the...

Hard (re)starting list-side engine (ballasted AR240, wake surfing)

I never really bought into this theory myself. Seems unlikely. This is good one. Are you able to replicate it? I'm wondering if the ECU has a problem with adjusting the fuel curve after the boat has been shut off at high RPM. If you can replicate this, try to turn your battery selector off...

Hard (re)starting list-side engine (ballasted AR240, wake surfing)

Been reading this entire thread, and the theories are interesting. I see the 2016 boats have a resonator. When you guys are full ballast, how high is the hose from the resonator to the water box--above or below the water line--the highest point in the loop? It does seem possible some water...

new oil filter failed just did the oil change 2 weeks ago

Sorry to hear your Motorcraft filter failed. I thought they were good filters: http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/showthread.php?t=266515 I've been using the K&Ns, but some are complaining the weld on the nut breaks and then leaks...

At what point an impeller duct needs replacement

You are looking for a wrench to remove the prop from the driveshaft? Harbor Fright has a 24" crescent wrenches that work great. Just make sure to apply heat beforehand to the threads.

At what point an impeller duct needs replacement

Nobody uses the EPNOC AP #0 grease as it's impossible to find in anything but 55 gal drums. Here's the thread that has me starting to use Maxima: http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/showthread.php?t=270459&p=2944409&viewfull=1#post2944409 -Greg

    Beautiful Sunday, Lake Livingston, TX

There's ethanol-free fuel on the water at a place next to The Indian Hill Restaurant. I'm not sure if it's part of the marina, but there is a pump on the water that takes a credit card. Livingston State Park has fuel too, but the last time I called they were out. Same goes for the KOA at the...

When you raised the bow, and then filled up the stern with water, how high did it get under the swim platform? Above the transom plates and stern hull fittings? Do you have a pic? -Greg

At what point an impeller duct needs replacement

Impellers can be refurbished by either Impros (long wait this time of year), or through the SBT impeller exchange program. If the wear rings are truly bad, then they are scrap metal. Just some pics of the impellers and impeller ducts (both sides) in their current condition--does not need to...

HELP! , Port engine not staying cranked.

Is there a fuel filter on the boats? On the waverunner 65Us there is not, just an intake screen and flapper, which can get clogged. It's at the end of the fuel pickup inside the tank. Good idea to check that. -Greg

HELP! , Port engine not staying cranked.

Carbs should be proactively rebuilt every 2-3 years on all the Yamaha 2-strokers. Will save you lots of headache. Not saying this is the problem here, but dirty carbs can lead to lean conditions and major problems, especially if the boat is on premix. -Greg
