    2001 Jet ski purchase?

The 2001 XLT has a 66v power valve motor and parts are a bit more expensive than other 2-strokers. Be sure to do a compression test. You'll want 120psi in each cylinder +/- 5%. If you end up buying, you'll want to convert it to premix, rebuild the carburetors with genuine Mikuni kits, new...

Got a new Lift have a few questions for those of you that have one.

It's also interesting to note that the straps will actually squeeze your boat together... in a few days, the front glass will no longer close while it is in the lift. My old Bayliner was in the lift for about 18 months until I sold it recently, and the glass would not close for about 2 weeks...

SX-210 - clogged water passages - Saltwater use

Your procedure is in reverse, Scott. You want to start the engine, then turn on the water and let it run. Once you are done, turn off the water, then turn off the engine. Thing to remember is to always have the engine on when turning the water on and off. The fact that you did flush every...

Why don't you test docking it where you think you want to extend the dock? -Greg

Saltwater Boats...Keep an Extra Eye Out

@Scott - Hilton Head This question should be asked in a new thread... maybe one of the admins can move it. Were you having a problem with the engines overheating? Do you see water coming out of the pissers at 6k+ RPM? (The two water exits on the starboard side of the boat, in the rear.) -Greg

    Are these maintenance prices fair?

The hose clamp replacement cost seems excessive. Let's break that down: $800 total = $100 parts (guess) and $700 labor, or 7 hours at $100 hr. There is some disassembly required for the exhaust clamps, and some of the lower motor hose clamps require a contortionist. But I would think you could...

New from TX, looking to get my first Jet Boat!

@override when folks talk of performance upgrades, it's usually to gain just a few mph. I'm not usually running full speed as fuel consumption significantly increases, so gaining 2, 3 or 5 mph is personally not important to me. If the boat feels sluggish, it might also be due to a problem with...

Adjustable Trim and Directional Reverse Bucket Install

@SamCF the waverunners have either a reverse bucket locking mechanism, or a beefy reverse cable to prevent bending the reverse cable when throttling up while in reverse. In your setup with the extreme angle of the reverse cable, you might bend it in that situation. -Greg

    Jet wash

A wedge is going to be a lot easier than retrofitting a waverunner trim system, and accomplish the same thing--just not adjustable. I've found with waverunner trims, I tend to leave them in one position that works well and rarely change it. It's true a lot of the Yamaha parts interchange. On...

    GP1800 smashed hull.

Ouch. I hope insurance will take care of you. The repair threads I've seen use West Systems Boat Epoxy. Do some searches over on Greenhulk.net. Here is one: http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/showthread.php?t=269207&p=2931052&viewfull=1#post2931052 -Greg

For those of you on a lift....

Have not had my Yamaha jet boat very long, but I have gotten in the water and pulled the plug before. You can also pull one of the internal plugs and use a wet/dry vac to suck out the water. -Greg

    Water in fuel

If you are pretty certain it's bad fuel, the only sure solution is to pump it out and discard at your local hazardous waste facility. -Greg

    Engine Oil - Your thoughts?

The K&N oil filters have a 17mm nut on the end that makes removal easy. I use the KN-204 in the MR1 motors. -Greg
