Forum News! New "warning" feature now live - No Personal Attacks, Partisan Politics etc

If I'm understanding the process correctly, a live human being determines that a post is warning-worthy, and selects the canned message to be sent. I'm all for that, and hope it makes the Moderator's lives easier. This is already the best moderated forum I participate in, and anything that both...

    Yamaha 212x Stereo

Yes, but it's only three bolts (with the big washers) to take it off. So why not do it the right way?

    Yamaha 212x Stereo

There appears to be no rhyme or reason to Yamaha's audio wiring, nor limitation on their ability to screw it up. Please take a look at the following thread, particularly post 6. It will give you an idea of how hard Yamaha biffed the factory wiring on my 212X in 2018. I spent a LOT of time...

    Yamaha 212x Stereo

Just used the mounting screws which came with the amp. Pulled the ballast board off so I could work on it on the table. Didn't drill it at all. Unfortunately, removing the ballast board now involves emptying the compartment, disconnecting the amp, and moving the wiring out of the way. The...

    Yamaha 212x Stereo

I'm using a Wet Sounds HTX-4, bridged to 2 channels (300W RMS per channel). I would seriously consider the Syn-DX4 (bridged) if you're going to run the Rev 10's. The Rev series are great speakers, IMO, but they suck power. Here's a link to the Rev 8 portion of my build from last Summer...

    Connext doesn’t turn off

Also try holding down the courtesy light button for about 5 seconds or so. That should shut the Connext off even if the battery is still on. Frankly, I wish my Connext would stay on with both keys off after shutting the engines down. I have to leave at least one key on after pulling into a...

    2018 210 FSH starboard motor wouldn't crank

I don't think the neutral or lanyard safety switches allow the starter to work either--at least that's the case on my 2018 212X. This sounds to me more like an ECU or other electronic issue. And yeah, it's tough to diagnose when it's not misbehaving. Maybe others have seen this. Jeff

2019 242 SE front bow speaker crackling

Couple of more things to try if the previous suggestions don't help. With the crackling speaker removed, get about 15 or so feet of 14 gauge two lead wire and run it from the output channel of the amplifier which goes to that speaker (right or left) and see if the speaker still crackles. If...

    "Ozark" New Netflix Series

Just got to the end of Season 3. It was outstanding--probably the best season. The final episode is f'ing incredible. On the level of Breaking Bad IMHO. One thing I really like about this show is that they are not afraid to move the story substantially forward in every episode, so you never...

    "Ozark" New Netflix Series

And episode 5 has a great closeup of a 242X, blue, 2017 (I think), about 40 minutes in. Ruth is one of the greatest characters ever. The actress, Julia Garner, won a supporting actress Emmy for the role last year. So well deserved. Jeff

    Cleanout ports- Tray/hatch/panel removal

Yep, just did mine last week. A heat gun for about 15 seconds and it slipped right off.

    Yamaha 212x Stereo

I can't speak to the Soundbar with Rev 10's, but I'm running Rev 8's with 300 W/Channel and the Soundbar with 100 W/Channel. I've listened to it extensively from the behind the boat with each one separately and both together, and the sound clearly has more punch and projection with both, with...

Scarabs/BRP engines don't have alternators? They run a total loss ignition system? Do they run magnetos? Jeff

Welcome and great boat! We were out on ours (2018) yesterday, starting the season a bit early. Enjoy! Jeff

Wet Sounds Rev 8 Upgrade Project

Did the same thing with 2018 212X. Got some decent marine preamp cables and ran it through split loom in the front of the engine bay. Works great and is a tidy looking installation. Remember to ground all amps and the pre-amp to the same location, preferably the negative terminal of the battery...

Got my 212X into my 93" garage

First off, congratulations on the new boat and the on the modification to get it to fit into your garage. These are really great boats in my opinion, and I expect you have a lot of fun in front of you with it. As you've probably already figured out, there's an incredible amount of valuable...

Aargh... Milkshake Engine Oil... WTF? (Port Engine, 2016 AR240, ~300 hrs)

Swatski, so sorry to hear about all of this. One thing I took note of in the video you linked above was the comment that the head bolts on one side were loose. Putting aside for a moment how they got that way, if engine compression is pushing against a head where the bolts on one side have...
