    Winterizing in water

If I was in a climate where I could use the boat through the winter every once in a while I'd change the oil, grease up moving parts and nothing else. These engines are self draining so after a run just bump the throttles a couple times to help blow out the water and that's it. Then in the...

    Winterizing Fail?

I'm a MN "antifreezer" as well. I doubt you have anything to worry about. Yeah your method probably didn't do very much but a lot of people don't do any antifreeze and don't have problems. If you didn't get any alarms then you didn't overheat the engines enough for any damage. I use a small...

I'm new here...looking for advice as I consider moving from I/O to jetboat

Welcome. I came from years of prop boats of different styles and makes 3yrs ago when we bought a 2017 212X. 1. Sucking things up is one thing I don't like about the jet boat - constantly thinking about it especially when there is a rope in the water. However, in reality in three years I've...

Docking recommendation: fixed dock + massive wake boarders wakes = nervous wreck!

How is this helpful?? I appreciate the all the vendors on this forum that only jump in when they can be helpful and contribute helpful advice/information to a thread topic and DON'T just throw commercials into a thread. IMO this is not only unhelpful but annoying.

    Show us what you see!!!

I don't know officially but was in it this weekend and I'd guess its in the mid 60s now.

    Yamaha 212X RPM questions

You sure its the port side that is running with lower rpms? Typically its the starboard engine that runs about 200-300 rpm slower under normal conditions because of they way the pump loads on that side vs the other. If it is indeed the starboard running lower rpms then something is definitely...

    Boat Cover

Yeah you will pay around $750 for the Yamaha cover anywhere that I've seen. My opinion is (disclaimer: just bought it this summer) the Yamaha cover is worth it, fits like a glove, looks nice, easy on and off, and seems to be decent quality.

10 hr service how much grease for the bearing housing

Ummm... this IS one of those lengthy discussions posted already on this forum - this thread was started 6 years ago.

Starboard pump sounds like gravel at idle

That was my first thought too but as you say, seems kinda early. You think it would only be making noise at idle? Like I said it is smooth as glass once you get past 1600 rpm. At first I even thought it was just a rough idle but it is clearly coming from the pump. One notch of no-wake button...

Starboard pump sounds like gravel at idle

Wondering if anyone has any experience with one of the pumps suddenly getting noisier. My starboard pump sounds gravely much like they sound out of water but now sounds like this when in the water at idle. It only does it under 1600 rpms or so, once over 1600 rpms it’s smooth as glass again...

Cant get rope-less with Wake Booster

Wake booster works great especially for the kids but in my opinion and experience we really couldn't get a ropeless wave for the adults until we put enough weight in the back corner to get that lower swim platform corner about 3-4" under water. The best way to do this is to get the custom swim...

    No wake mode not disengaging

Of course you are entitled to your opinion on this, but it was an as-designed decision by Yamaha to allow you to have a constant throttle amount engaged when only operating the Binnacles inside the TDE (thrust directional enhancer) range of the shift pattern (first detent) between forward, and...

    Unsteady Engine speed

I just had this same issue yesterday. Out of the blue my starboard engine was fluctuating speed all over the place especially at WOT. Took it back to the dock and changed the plugs and all is good again. **I usually change the plugs every season, this last spring I did not cause our use was...

Can anyone explain DRIVE? Is it just using paddles instead of the Throttles and how is it $4K???

I think they also control some throttle along with the buckets. Yeah I agree, I know I've never used it, but I can't see how its more than a gimmick- is anyone really having trouble steering with one hand and doing bucket/throttle control with the other???

HELP, my wife’s suit stained our brand new boat seats!

This right here ?. I used to try and clean of stains like this from new swim suits but now I don't even try, not worth the effort. 1-2 days in the hot sun and its gone every time.

Another newbie question... lift bunk placement?

They tend to build up junk around the seals and "dog ears" which eventually make them very hard to remove. Taking them out and lubercating them keep them easy to remove and replace for that time when you need them to clean something out of the pump.

Another newbie question... lift bunk placement?

I just got done setting mine up. Took me about 4 different setups to get to where I like it. Its completely different than what I thought I would do or tried in the beginning. The amount of width I could move the bunks out was too restricted to get outside the strake I wanted to and kept...

    1st Insurance Claim - UGH...

Paint? No way, I don't believe that. I know my 2017 is gel coat, very unlikely that Yamaha switched to painting their bottom hulls. I think your dealer didn't know what they were talking about.

Opinion on twin engine versus single

If I was to be honest, if given the chance I'd ditch my Yamaha and get into a v-drive. However, there are things that I'd really miss about my Yamaha 212X. I'd really miss the back deck, it is so nice and such a great design that you will not get on a v-drive. I'll also miss the...
