Upgraded my Yamaha 190 FSH Trailer Rims and Tires because Original Factory ware Defected

@tomoc sx190 ... See attached picture. I purchased the wheels from recstuff.com for about $75 each, then purchased the tires through a local shop and they mounted them.

    Yamaha Cover and Trailer Quality

The trailers leave a lot to be desired as Yamaha configures them from the supplier (Shorlandr these days) with minimal parts. As for covers, I've found them (although pricy) to be OK. I do store my boat indoors over the winter so my covers don't take a lot of abuse however, my boat is...

Battery charger/trickle charger for Winter Recommended?

    I have a dual-bank Battery Tender. It's worked great for 8 years.

    Fall cleaning plan

I learned this from my neighbor years ago. Get yourself a plant sprayer and some wood bleach (oxcillyc acid) and dilute the bleach into the sprayer. spray on the hull, wait 5 minutes, and wipe off with a sponge. then wash the boat with a good soap, then wax it. With 4 people (2 inside and 2...

    Question about getting seadek installed

The buttons come out pretty easily and you can fill them with a little exoxy. Most will be covered with the SeaDek. When I installed the complete set in the 242, it was about 1/2 day project with two of us working on it. Just go slow, and line them up best you can and get the bubbles out...

The great sell off of 2020

@Justin2431 here's an idea for you --- it's what I did with my 2017. If you know you want a Yamaha, ask your dealer what they have on order and when they expect it in. I was shopping for my boat in January but didn't want to pick it up until June. The dealer I purchased from had a 242 being...

Shoes or no shoes on a jet boat!

Shoes go into the big plastic tub under one of the seats. I keep mine out and easily available so in case I need to hop off the boat I can do so.

Loose bow cleat 2019 Yamaha 242x

That's the only way. While you're down there, look at the backing nuts on the grab rails. When you tighten them, it may make sense to put a little lock tight on them as well...that'll keep them from vibrating loose again.

    Anchor for 21’ boat?

I have a small box on my 24 and with a piece of rebar between the folded section of the anchor, it fits perfect in the locker. If I had any wave or wind action on it it would slip occasionally. To combat that, I put about 8-9 feet of chain on it and it's set and forget every time now.

    Trailer tire replacement

I seem to recall people having problems with the Marathon's....sidewall issues. I Maxxis 8008 on my '09 and have the Endurance on the '17. The Endurance in stock size is 1 weight rating higher (D vs the stock C I believe). I believe Goodyear made these with stronger sidewalls specifically...

@HELP Need to use my Yamaha to tow a stranded boat

A word of caution. The Boaters code says to stop and render assistance up until the point you start endangering your boat or crew. Helping a buddy is one thing, but be careful helping a stranger. Once you tie a line onto them, you're responsible for them. We had a situation last season where...

    Engine alarm reset

Yeah...I'd never heard about a sensor on the driveline either.

    Purging Water From Yamaha 1052cc

The manual on my 1052cc said to rev the engines 3-4 times when out of water to blow them clean and partially empty the water boxes (mufflers). Same for the 1.8s. You will never get ALL of the water out of the engines and water boxes but as long as you blow them out as described and get some...

    Engine alarm reset

I had an overhear alarm on my 242 this season as they ran it too long on the hose at the mussel inspection station. according to my local service advisor, if they run too long on the hose, they will throw a code as the driveshaft is cooled by the water around it and when out of the water, they...

    Struck Submerged log

When the adjustor comes out to look at your boat, I'd make sure that intake tunnel, impellers, and even the drive shaft are all checked and made right in the process. Glad no one was hurt

    Boat explosion

1 cup of gasoline in the bilge of a boat is = to about 1 stick of dynamite. I agree with others...this likely happened as a result of not running the blowers.

Bow is lower in the water than usual

I agree with @anmut above. The only reason I can figure they have a plug in Engine Locker #2 is to keep ME from dropping random (yet vitally important screws) down an open hole in that area -- only to be lost forever in the space between the bottom of the engine compartment and the hull...

Bow is lower in the water than usual

Likely it's the rain as the culprit. Last week at the lake we had some thunderstorms and that means the bow gets wet. That also means the channel around the floor locker can get wet and overflow into said locker. I had mine dry one day, and the next I went out after the storm and the top of...

New wheels and tires for the trailer - so long bias ply!

Check our recstuff.com and you can get wheels from them. I then took the wheels down to my local tire shop and they mounted them. If I recall correct, the wheels were only about $75 each. And you get way more selection.

    a better anchor !!?!?

Small box anchor. 2:1 scope. with wind and waves I would get a little slippage on that setup...even with going to a 3:1 scope. I added about 7-8 feet of chain to it and it holds perfect. on the 24 footer, cut a piece or rebar to the length of the holders in the locker. Paint the rebar to keep...
