2017 Yamaha 212X vs. Vortex Chapparal 223VR w/Aerial Surf Platform

True, but who wants to be the guinea pig to see how long they last when, if they fail, will do some major engine damage. Not sure I'd be willing to risk a $5K+ motor for an $800 part.

2017 Yamaha 212X vs. Vortex Chapparal 223VR w/Aerial Surf Platform

Sux even more if your boat is a twin. That's twice the price of the current rebuild, although the service interval is slightly longer, but it's still an expensive maintenance hit at $1600+

show off your guns here(fire arms)

Shoots pretty good for a snubby. If I were to do it again, I'd get the longer barrel. Definitely less recoil shooting from the 6 0'clock position.

2017 Yamaha 212X vs. Vortex Chapparal 223VR w/Aerial Surf Platform

I've heard this too. I also heard by "maintenance free" they mean they have a replacement schedule, no rebuild. Have not heard anything about replacement pricing yet. No one has yet to confirm this that I have seen.

2017 Yamaha 212X vs. Vortex Chapparal 223VR w/Aerial Surf Platform

Both are nice boats. One thing I'd inquire about on the Chaparral, is the supercharged rotax motor service intervals. I know on our 2012, the service interval on rebuilding the superchargers, is every 2 years or 100 hours. This is a very important maintenance item and shouldn't be ignored (it...

    Buying my first boat

That's who we went with. 5% on a used boat (4 years old) for 144 months. We triple the payments. Should have her paid off end of 2018.

show off your guns here(fire arms)

Went through 11 pages of pics. Saw some pretty sweet firearms, but didn't see anyone who has a Chiappa Rhino .357 Magnum. Wifey liked it, so we picked it up a few years ago. Sweet little wheel gun.

Survey: Did you know ... every 12 months or 100 hrs?

Our Sea Doo boat has a similar requirement. The main reason for inspection is to ensure that the grease is still present and in good shape and also that water isn't getting into the pump internals. If the grease looks good and there's no discoloration or water, you are good to go. I cleaned out...

    Anchor Locker Strut

Great idea. I'd love to do this to my anchor locker door as well. Any tips on getting the mount locations and alignment right?

Completed 2017 Perfect Pass Group Buy

I'm truly baffled that speed control doesn't come standard in those boats. Our 2012 Challenger has something very similar to PP, only it's called Ski Mode. I can set the intensity in which the rider is pulled out of the water and also the top speed I wish the boat to hold. Speedo runs off built...

    Push Start AR 240

This is the way our boat came from the factory. 2 buttons, one for each starter. Manual states not to push them both at the same time. I'm assuming it's to prevent any issues with overloading circuits and such. When we first got the boat we would hit both buttons at the same time, but you could...

    Push Start AR 240

Our 2012 Sea Doo Challenger has push button start for each motor. I'm surprised the Yamahas boats don't have them on all their boats by now.

Drain plug led Diablo Royal ??

Sure, I could post up some pics later showing the steps involved and how I wired it up. Haven't put her in the water yet, but hope to do so shortly.

Drain plug led Diablo Royal ??

Thanks man. We're very happy with how well it turned out. I had to make 5 holes in the transom. The power wire required a 5/16" hole, while the 4 mounting screws required a 5/32" hole. You do not need a switch to wire up the light with the remote, but I did install one anyway just in case the...

Drain plug led Diablo Royal ??

Light came today. I'll be installing Saturday. Here's some pics so you can see the size and what you get. We got the optional remote so we can adjust the brightness. It also enables some other features as well. Everything appears to be of high quality and craftsmanship.

    Sea Ray SLX-W230

Nice boat, but if I wanted a wake/surf boat in the 6 figure range I'd go with a Nautique first, then Mastercraft second. Sea Ray makes a great boat, but seriously can't compare to the Nautique and Mastercraft line of V-Drives currently on the market.

Drain plug led Diablo Royal ??

Product details say it's 8000 lumens. Our twin engine challenger has a center mounted drain plug. I'll be mounting this a few inches above the drain plug. It's pretty small. 3.75" W x 2.5" H x 1" Thick.
