    Brass Drain plug install

I just used (#8 if memory serves) oval head stainless sheet metal screws. It would be a pain in the butt to put nuts a on a machine screw in that location. Plus stainless nuts and bolts tend to gall and become impossible to take apart after time. Use good quality marine adhesive sealant on...

FSH drain tests and where the water goes

I can live with the plastic but I am astounded at how bad the install of the fittings is across so many boats. One here or there, okay. This many though, shameful. Oh well, I'll have nothing to whine about once I get the leaks stopped. HaHaHa, right?

FSH drain tests and where the water goes

The first weekend home after our Lake Powell trip so I was cleaning off the red Utah dust and the black Colorado mag chloride gunk from the boat. So while I had the hose out and was wet anyway, I thought I'd document a couple of the "other" leaks that I still need to attend to. It's safe to...

    FSH Transducer Placement

Did you guys use any special epoxy on the Polyethylene? It doesn't seem to be the most adhesive friendly material ever made.

FSH drain tests and where the water goes

Good to hear! Yes seal up those other leaks. Otherwise when you go stand on the bow and fish for a while, that water back by the battery compartment will be...in the changing area. :vomit: I'm hoping that's where my remaining leaks are as well. Easy enough to fix.

FSH drain tests and where the water goes

Yep, agreed. No storm this time though, just running on the water. I've been meaning to do all of those "other" sealing points as well. I was hoping the anchor drain was going to be the big fix and after seeing that big open gap I was fairly confident it would be. While it certainly did help...

FSH drain tests and where the water goes

Unhappy to report, "Problem not solved!" Things were nice and dry after the first day. The second day we pounded through some tough wind blowing up a good chop for 20+ miles. Even though there was maybe only a spoonful of water in the bilge, I saw some of the tell-tale water back by the...

FSH drain tests and where the water goes

Cool. I'm heading to Lake Powell tomorrow for a week. I am anxious to give it a soaking after my winter hiatus.

    Height on Trailer Hitch

It would appear that the answer to your original question is "no." ;) I'll give it a crack. 20 1/2" from the ground to the top of the ball keeps mine pretty close to level.

    Water under changing station.

No reason it shouldn't. In fact, I may run a rubber stopper plug in my anchor locker from now on as normal practice. Since 95% of the time I'm not anchoring anyway, why let all that water get shoved into the locker and soak all my line?

FSH drain tests and where the water goes

Barely at all...maybe 1/8" diameter. A light touch with a Dremel sanding drum and I was there. Material disappeared faster than I thought it would.

You said it, not me. ;) Zoom out.

    Water under changing station.

Rethinking this...I may have to back track my previous statement. Given Yamaha's lack of quality control in the sealing department...pull off everything you can find that has a mounting flange on it and re-seal it.

    Water under changing station.

No reason that shouldn't work. Good job. I'd recommend for anyone going this route, put the most emphasis on getting that good seal on the inside. Even if you have to leave the tube stick inside a bit. The drain hole isn't at the very bottom of the locker anyway so if the tube sticks inside a...

    Water under changing station.

@Henry, take a look toward the end of this thread...more photos of the problem there as well. @OUT ON THE REEF got us all pointed in the right direction. https://jetboaters.net/threads/fsh-drain-tests-and-where-the-water-goes.8764/

FSH drain tests and where the water goes

That little stub of a drain on mine barely reached beyond the thickness of the hull. Must have been cut short for some reason. I had to do something different. Either way...we've both stopped water from pouring in!

FSH drain tests and where the water goes

Just thought I'd throw a quick post up simply to reaffirm what @OUT ON THE REEF shows in his video. He is spot on! Finally got around to addressing this while I'm in winter lay-up. My factory installed drain was as bad if not even worse than the one he showed. Photos below should be pretty self...
